Finn carefully walked along the path from the barns to the cafeteria. Usually, he'd slink in and grab some food before going to his dorm to eat. But today he had to go straight back to the barns, so it was easier to just inside the cafeteria. It wasn't that he was shy, it was the fact that he didn't like the hierarchy feel of the lunch room. Colbie, his crush, was pretty high up in the 'food chain', and Finn would rather not see her in that environment. It unnerved him, and made him feel like he wasn't worth her time. He would chance it and take his lunch to eat in Fever's stall, but he knew that the mare would insist she have half of it, and then the rest if Finn didn't eat it quick enough. She didn't even like half of the things he had. Sighing slightly as the building came into view, he sluggishly dragged his feet as he took the last few steps and let himself into the large room.
His oracles widened in surprise as he took in how full the room already was. His deep, chocolate colour oracles swept over the room, assessing each table and where he should sit. Most of them were taken up, more toward the middle than anything. The table in the center seemed to be the 'main event'. Though it wasn't full yet, and Colbie was nowhere to be seen, it was obvious that you didn't sit there unless invited. Finn shook his head in disgust, he didn't like the system at all, but would never be one to go against it. It just wasn't worth the hassle. Carefully, watching where he put his feet, he half limped toward the line up to collect his food. Even though his leg was now out of plaster, he hadn't regained full movement yet. But, the riding was helping. He was also running every morning. The progress was slow, but steady. Happy that the line up was moving quickly, he ordered his lunch of sandwiches, a packet of crisps and a bottle of coke, before walking over to the table nearest the door. He wanted to be out as soon as he finished. Focusing on his food, he zoned out from the mindless chatter of the younger girls who were also sat at the table with him. He didn't notice the appreciative gazes they threw his way every so often either.
"Savannah Monroe!" He called, speeding up his already brisk walk to catch up with the blonde female. Savvy turned her head, a scowl already in place to shout at whoever called her by her full name. When she saw it was Jay, she smoothed her expression into a pleasantly surprised smile. It was somewhat fake, but neither minded. They didn't particularly like one another, but they were in the same circle so tolerated one another. Jay reached her finally, and slipped his arm through hers. "Cafeteria?" he queried, already knowing the answer and dragged her along the path toward the building. There was quite a bit of gossip going around campus at the moment, and he couldn't wait to find out what the others knew. He wouldn't share what he knew, not just yet. "Jay, don't call me Savannah. I've told you umpteen times, it's Savvy." Jay quirked a brow at the mouthy female as he spoke. "M'kay, Savannah." He smirked, and then dodged her hand as she attempted to smack his shoulder.
The pair entered the cafeteria, still arm in arm, chatting away as if they were the best of friends. They automatically made their way to the line up and picked up identical lunches of salad and water. Without pausing, they paid and made their way over to the table in the center of the large room. People ushered out of the way when they saw them, more due to Jay's influence than anything. Savvy was still too new to have a name as big as his own, or Colbie's just yet. Jay looked up suddenly, wondering if Colbie had arrived yet. She and Savvy had met before, and it was pretty obvious the pair disliked one another. It amused Jay no end, and couldn't wait for the hatred to escalate to a cat fight. The sharp intake of breath from Savvy alerted Jay, and he locked his eyes on her expression as they sat. "What the heck is wrong with you?"
A small, sly smirk tugged at Savvy's lips, causing Jay to roll his eyes. He followed to where she was staring, and grinned when he found it. Or him. "Who's that?" she asked, nodding her head toward Finn. "That's Finn Brady, he hardly ever comes into the cafeteria, usually working through lunch or in his room. He's a part time groom and also Colbie's cr-." He stopped himself before he finished the last word. "Colbie's friend." he corrected himself, smiling slyly himself. He was pretty sure he'd found a way to make this cat fight occur sooner than he expected. "You should go introduce yourself!" he announced, glaring at the other students that sat at the table with them. He knew what they were thinking, everyone knew Colbie liked Finn. Two of the girls seemed to clue in, and echoed Jay's encouragements to Savvy, obviously wanting to see a bit of drama at lunch time too.
Savvy nodded, and rose from her seat. "Back in a bit!" she told the table cheerily, before making her way over to the table Finn was sat at. Jay laughed evilly, training his eyes on the pair. Savvy had just sat herself beside Finn, and was unnecessarily close to him. The poor boy looked alarmed, and Jay gave another laugh of delight. "Hey," Savvy purred at the unsuspecting male, "I'm Savvy. You're Finn, right? Part time groom?" she questioned, and then grinned when he nodded the affirmative. The blush that coloured his cheeks could be easily seen by Jay, and the others at his table. "Pleasure to meet you Finn, so tell me, what's a handsome guy like you doing sat over here alone?" Finn gulped, his mouth dry as he was unable to say anything to the female. He was getting more and more uncomfortable. Looking around helplessly for inspiration, he noticed the cafeteria door swing open and Colbie walk in. His expression became one of horror as Jay's became one of pure delight. "This is about to get a whole lot more interesting!" he said gleefully, focusing all of his attention on the scene.
