Work. Not the most appealing word in the dictionary, but Zack was beginning to grow very fond of his job at Movie Magic as a part time barman. There was no denying it, stood behind the bar meant that he got a lot of female attention, usually from drunken girls who just wanted a little fun. Zack wasn't like that though, he was never one to take advantage and got very flustered by the attention. But, he'd also been talking to one of the older gentlemen who came in daily, nursing a whiskey for hours. He and Zack had many talks, especially when the bar was quieter. The man was very interested in the charity work Zack had been involved in, and Zack was more than happy to share. The boy had also learnt a lot about the man, that he was in the army in his younger days. He'd even brought a medal one evening to show Zack. Chuckling as he remembered, Zack knew that he was fascinated by the man, and actually looked forward to seeing him in the evenings. Zack had a little tension in his shoulders today, not something that was often there. He'd introduced Moo and Mock to one another this morning, and the meeting hadn't gone according to plan. Rolling his eyes at the memory, he really hadn't expected Mock to act so defensively. He'd expected it to be the other way around, but instead it was Moo cowering behind Zack instead of Mock. Eventually, he'd managed to sooth the pair, but they stood on opposite ends of the pasture. Rethinking the idea of keeping them out for the night, Zack had brought the pair in before going to get changed for work.
Pushing open the door of the bar, a sigh of relief slipped through his lips. It was a chilly day, the air the coldest it had been since he arrived in Park. It being a Friday though, he didn't think that it would deter the weekend drinkers. His pale blue oracles scanned the bar, grinning when he spotted the old man. He knew that he was named Jeffery, but liked to go by Jeff. Making his way to the back room, he paused to smile warmly at the woman behind the bar. She was often on the same shifts as himself. She smiled back, raising her hand in a wave. Carrying on to the back room, he pulled his coat from his shoulders and hung it up. His ensemble today was a white shirt, black trousers and black shoes. His uniform. He'd resisted the urge to place his usual beanie on his head, just due to the fact that it infuriated the owner. Adjusting his collar, he then turned to make his way back out into the bar, and ready to begin his shift. "Evening Cathy, how are you?" he asked politely, stepping away a little when she came too close. "Fine thank you Zack, yourself?" she asked, in a much more seductive tone than needed. Swallowing hard, he knew it was going to be a long shift. "Great thank you." he replied, before looking up when the door opened. Never had he been so happy to see someone. "Evening Jeff. The usual?" he questioned, grinning as the older man lumbered toward the bar. "Yes please.. Actually, make it a double. The cold weather is really getting to me." he informed Zack, who chuckled and nodded.
The pair had been involved in an interesting debate about global warming, another thing very close to Zack's heart. It was only interrupted when Zack had to serve someone, or if he had to clear a table. Apart from that, it was becoming much more intriguing. Zack found himself drawn into the way the man spoke about the subject, actually open to the other side of the argument for once. Checking the time, Zack rose a brow at how quick it had passed. He'd arrived at five, and now it was ten past seven. Usually the Friday shift dragged. He then caught Cathy's gaze, which wasn't as friendly as it had been when Zack first entered the building. "Uh oh. Sorry Jeff, looks like I'm going to have to do some work." he said quietly, gesturing as discretely as he could to his colleague. Jeff gave a snort of laughter and pat his arm fondly. "Alright dear boy, make sure you come for a chat before I go." he threatened, which Zack nodded to earnestly. With a quick grin, he passed by Cathy who hissed at him to stop wasting time and go collect some glasses. Rolling his eyes as he went, he followed the orders of which he was given, and began to clear the tables quietly. "Women." he muttered, causing a man near by to chuckle in agreement. "They never change lad, they never change." he grinned which then turned to a look of sheepish innocence when his female companion elbowed him in the side. Zack laughed quietly, then began to whistle softly as he continued with his work.
