Anna let a small sigh of relief exit her mouth as the tack and pet store came into view. She may have already had a reconciliation with her older brother Ed, but she still hadn't been able to persuade him to run her into town unless she wanted to wait until lunchtime. Which she hadn't. The walk into town wasn't too bad, Anna figured once she knew her way around it would be fine. A grin spread across her face as she passed a clothing store, realizing most sixteen year old girls would be spending their hard-earnt money in there. But the money she had been saving up for the past year was enough to warrant a shopping spree in the horsey store, now that she didn't have all her grandparent's equipment to hand. The female nodded politely at the male worker, but he didn't get anything more. Boys weren't really an interest of hers, horses were much more important.
The first thing to catch her eye was the tack display. All three of her equines had their own tack, but Fightstar - being her newest Endurance mount - was still in traditional English tack rather than special Endurance equipment. The store had a limited array, but a lovely pale blue webbing bridle would look stunning on Fightstar, and she added it to the basket on her arm. Anna wasn't normally one for extravagent spending, but she had spent the past eighteen months saving up for this spree. Grinning, she headed over to the rugs aisle - something else she needed. The horses had been stabled at her grandparents' yard due to the turnout being used at this time of year for the herd of semi-wild youngsters they always brought and trained up, and didn't have any turnout rugs.
Her fingers ran over a light-blue turnout rug the right size for Fightstar, and she concluded that pale blue was going to be the mare's color. Whenever she could, equipment for each horse was color co-ordinated. Lee's color was dark green, and Roy's navy. Folding up the rug, she put it in the basket and shrugged her arm. With the other two rugs she would soon add, it was starting to weigh her delicate frame down. Anna's eyes left the rugs to glance towards the door as someone else walked in, and she nodded a greeting instinctively without even taking in the person's gender. The girl wasn't one to start a conversation, but she'd respond if someone started one.

Alejandra parked her car outside the tack and pet store. She sat in the dirver's seat for a few minutes as she drew in some deep breaths, trying to calm down her nausea. Whoever had called it morning sickness had left her horribly misunderstood. As the pregnancy sickness came at any time, and not only in the morning. Swinging the car door open, she carefully got out of the car, making sure not to knock her protruding belly on the steering wheel on her way out. Crossing her arms over her stomach, she entered the store, returning the other woman's greeting with a nod of her own. She had come to get some new things for the gelding that she was now working from the ground as she could no longer get herself into the saddle. He needed some new lunging gear as the things she owned were more suited for a mare. Heading across the store, she quickly found the lunge lines and whips. Pressing her lips together, she looked through the colours until she finally selected a line that was two different shades of blue with a brown stripe between the two blues and it had a nickle swivel clip. She quite liked it and thought that it would suite the skewbald well. She then picked up a black lunge whip that could be unscrewed in the middle so that it was easier to store away. With the lunge products in hand, she walked over to the rugs, where the woman who had been in the store before she arrived was also looking. She wanted to look at getting a lighter rug for Moment, as the canvas one he was currently wearing was becoming a struggle to put on. And as the seasons were currently changing, she was hoping that she could get him a synthetic between seasons rug. "Excuse me?" She spoke up softly, though her tone was confident. "Can you offer any advice on a good between seasons rug?" She gave a small laugh, hoping that the woman wouldn't think that Alex had mistaken her as one of the shop assistants. "One that will still keep him warm, but not too heavy to lift?"Lunging Gear

Anna soon found a lovely rug for Roy. It was exactly his color and perfect for the weather at the moment. She slipped it into the basket and then looked up. The display of head collars and lead reins caught her eye and she moved across. The head collars she currently had were really showing their wear. The nylon webbing of Lee's was all fluffy around the edges where it had been repetitively caught on things, and the buckle was a nightmare to do up on Roy's. She dithered for a moment halfway across the aisle. Yes, she was on a shopping spree, but could she justify buying new head collars when she already had perfectly usable ones? A dark green head collar in Lee's size with faux sheepskin across the headpiece made up her mind. Walking over, she put it with her other items before she could change her mind, and found a similar one but in a different color for Fightstar. Roy wouldn't suit the faux sheepskin, but she did find a nice head collar for him too. And, if she was getting head collars, stretching to matching lead reins wasn't that far. Anna laughed lightly as she placed them in her basket and reprimanded herself. She wouldn't buy anything else now apart from the rug she needed.
A few minutes passed whilst she browsed the rugs, not finding one that seemed perfect for Lee. Her eyes flicked up as the other female browsing the store approached her, and she looked up with a friendly smile as she started to speak. "Uh, sure!" She hesitated for a moment, before deciding this woman was asking her as a customer rather than an assistant. "I'm Anna by the way. Do you go to the college?" Her fingers moved of their own accord, needed to fiddle with something, landing on the rug she had chosen for Roy. "There's quite a few of these in stock. It's a Mark Todd 'Autumner' lightweight. My granddad swore they were amazing. I liked them too, he could pick them up with his dodgy back so I didn't have to go and help him." She laughed at the memory, a slight feel of guilt spreading across her as she realized now she was at the college she wouldn't be helping her granddad with the heavier winter rugs. "It's got 150 grams of filling I think. Lee had one last year, but he tore it. The outside is pretty strong though, Lee has to have those super strong ones." Anna smiled again, realizing she had probably given way more information than the poor woman had asked for.

Alex grinned. "Hey Anna. I'm Alex." She rolled her eyes. "Well, my name is actually Alejandra, but Alex is easier for people to get their mouths around and I like it better. Yeah, I attend the college, mostly for academic classes currently. Riding isn't top of my to-do list currently. Guessing you're at the College too?" She nodded as she listened to the other woman describe a rug that seemed like it would be perfect for a heavily pregnant girl to be able to throw onto a horse and pull off again. "Thanks, that sounds perfect. Heavy rugs so aren't my things at the moment." She laughed lightly as she walked over to look at the rug that Anna had mentioned. She ran her hands over the ink-grey rug. She lifted a folded rug up in one hand and lifted it up and down. "It's perfect!"
She also picked up the matching neck rug, she wasn't sure if her skewbald gelding would need the neck rug, but it would come in handy for shows if the weather was a little off. She knew that her baby wasn't too far away from arriving and she tended to get back into the saddle as quickly as possible afterward. She missed riding, but there again she guessed it was all her own fault for being so stupid all those months ago.
