Lestat usually woke up for the sunrise. He also knew how to survive on minimal sleep. He had gotten home from the hospital at about eleven, and now it was just after four. He put on his stable attire, and proceeded to muck out his horses stalls. Feeding would be done just before he left and he got someone to turn out the horses and clean paddocks while at work. Finishing with King and Lolly, he proceeded to move onto his youngest. Phonic was a gorgeous bay tobiano colt of about three years of age. Lestat had slowly started backing him, but this morning all plans ground to a halt. The colt was lying on his side and was dripping in sweat. He kept nipping at his stomach. Lestat recognised the signs of colic immediately, and it wasn't just a small bout of it.
Lestat knew that he had to get the horse up and moving, before taking him to the vet. Lestat pleaded with Phonic to move. It took time, but it happened. Walking the pasture, Lestat placed a scrim sheet over the horse, and dialed the College. It was the only place with a vet and Lestat had to get there as soon as possible. He called ahead and made sure that the vet knew that they were coming. The gelding loaded easily, and Lestat made sure that there wasn't space for the horse to lie down.
The College was far enough, and Lestat had to be cautious with his driving. Once he managed to find the clinic, he unloaded Phonic, and handed over the colt to the people that were there.
