Cara stood in the Campbell stables with her newest addition, a ten month gelding, standing calmly in his stall while she went through their daily process of her running her hands all over the Gypsy Vanner's coat and gently asking him to pick up each foot when she asked.
Sooner or later she would introduce the skewbald gelding to standing in cross-ties, but for now she was happy that he would stand nicely for her while she held his lead rope. The next step would be to get him to stand while he was tied up, and then she would move on to cross-ties.
Once she was happy with how he looked and the fact that he was still calm, she opened the stall door, clicked her tongue and led Noah out of the loosebox and out of the stables. They carefully made their way over to the outdoor arena, the new experience she wanted to introduce the almost yearling to today. She was hoping that there would be other students working their horses in the arena, as she wanted to do some work with the gelding, but she was keen for a little distraction.
Leading the gelding into the arena, she was a little disappointed that it was empty, but at least this way she could get started without the distractions she wanted. She started by halting the baby in the middle of the arena, and then worked Ttouch circles all over the skewbald's coat. She then walked forward to the end of the lead, she stopped and waited for Noah to join her before she walked forward once more. Each time she gave him the choice of whether he was going to follow her or not.
