Demeter walked out to the paddock where Nickle and Dime were currently grazing. She leaned on the gate and watched mother and son for a few minutes before she entered the field and walked over to where the the pretty chestnut Warmblood mare was grazing. "Hey beautiful." She greeted the mare as the horse lifted her head and looked at the woman before she turned to look at the colt that was standing in the shade of the tree. "Let's go for a ride." She clipped the rope onto the halter ring and clicked her tongue as she led the mare forward. "Come on girl, he'll be fine." She said as the mare stopped, turned and gave a slightly anxious nicker toward her baby. The woman clicked her tongue and led the mare forward once more until they had exited the paddock.
She turned back as she heard the thunder of tiny hooves and grinned at the chestnut colt who was a mirror image of his dam - if you didn't look at the white socks on his back legs. "Your ma will be back later." She told the baby as she turned back to the front again and led the mare away.
Once the mare was back at the stable and tacked up, Demeter led her down to the outdoor arena. Fastening her helmet under her chin, she led the mare over to the mounting block and swung onto the horse's back. Squeezing the horse forward, they walked around the outside track of the arena, as the woman once again got used to the mare's stride - it hadn't changed too much since she had last ridden Nickel when she was 6 months pregnant, other than the fact that she wasn't as round.
