"Don't you freaking dare." he hissed, storming toward the pastures. The gray cranium shot back, as did her audits. The ivories came uncovered and she bared them at him. A larger bay gelding stood quivering a little to the left of the flea bitten mare, looking around anxiously for help. He registered his owners presence and darted away from the mare, his tail tucked firmly between his legs. Archie sighed, glaring at Bee furiously. She really was a swine. The mare tossed her cranium in agitation, and then threw herself at the fence. A groan sliced through the air as her chest pounded against the wood, and then a creak as she pulled away and repeated the action again. The head collars jingled as he ran forward, throwing his hands against her chest and shoving at her to back up. She did so, a little surprised by her owner's outburst. She wasn't used to retaliation. She backed away then, tossing her whipcord in agitation and huffing off to the far side of the pasture. This annoyed Archie even more. He had to bring her in, as well as Mo. Louis would remain in the pastures, and would be more than happy to. Tie was with Will, who had managed to persuade Archie to allow him to borrow the gelding for the day. Archie didn't ask questions, he didn't really want to know why. But he did know that the gelding was in good hands, so he wasn't bothered.
As soon as he entered the pasture, Mo flew down from the back of the field. Her whipcord and banner streamed out behind her, and she snorted excitedly as she approached. Louis was already beside him, his maw snuffling happily into his owners' short locks. Chuckling, he reached up to push away his intrusive muzzle and welcomed Mo with an affectionate ruffle of her forelock. She was the smallest of his horses, but at 16HH she was still pretty big. Next came Bee and Tie, who both reached 16.3 HH and then Louis who was 17.3 HH. It always amazed Archie how such different beasts threw their height and weight around. Louis could easily hurt Bee if he wanted to, he towered over the mare and outweighed her. He had a much sturdier build than the other three warmbloods. But Louis chose to be gentle and very elegant in the way he approached life, rarely lumbering around unless he was feeling under the weather. Tie was the excitable baby of the herd, but still held the childlike innocence that made him a pleasure to work with. He does get the excitable edge that many youngsters were expected to have, and Archie knew that he would eventually grow out of it. He'd already calmed considerably. Then there was Mo. The pretty mare brought the cheeky side to the group, or as he liked to call her, Comic Relief. This didn't mean that she was the sweetest mare in the world, she had a mean streak. But it doesn't show often. She's a much more laid back horse, more gelding like in her ways at times. And of course, then there was Bee. Archie couldn't really put the bond he and the mare shared, but if he tried it would be love/hate times 300. She likes to let everyone know she's in charge, and Archie can sometimes not believe that she was such a sweet filly when he first got her. The male looked over to the sulking mare and rolled his oracles dramatically. World War Three was about to break out, or so it seemed.
"Louis, you're a very lucky boy. I'm taking these two fine ladies away for you to have a little peace, big man. Not even Tie is here to annoy you." he told the large bay, as he looked at his owner a little offended by the fact that his head collar wasn't in Archie's hands. As soon as the words registered, Louis seemingly perked up and walked away a few steps before dropping his cranium to graze. "That's it old chap, you just have a relaxing afternoon to yourself. I'll be out with your rug later." he laughed, and then set about putting the head collar on Mo. The mare stood obediently, and just as he adjusted the strap on the head collar, she lipped at his jacket. Rolling his eyes, he bent down to place a kiss on her maw. She gave nicker in reply, and snuffled his face. "Right, you stay there while I go get madame." he told the mare, pushing away her maw and slinging the lead rope over her neck. He then turned and made his way across the field to the stubborn mare. Looking over the mare, she was much dirtier than he had expected. He'd been in the pastures this morning, getting Tie for Will as he exercised his two horses. He'd noted that both Mo and Bee needed a good groom, and with the afternoon free he'd decided to do it now. The mare had clumps of mud clinging to her winter coat, as did Mo. It showed on those two more than Louis and Tie as Bee's pelt was so light and Mo had so much white on her, that dirt was so hard to avoid. Looking back at Bee, he'd been sidetracked by Mo who had slowly been following him up the field. The gray mare had been looking over her shoulder at him, but quickly diverted her attention when he looked back. Stifling his laughter, he signaled for Mo to stop, the mare now had her chest pressed against his back, and walked around to Bee's side. "Come on Queen Bee, let's get you inside and have you all nice and cleaned up. Then you can come back out and continue the reign on the kingdom." he said royally, even bowing to her as he spoke. She raised her head haughtily, and kept it just out of range. He knew the battle had just started.
He'd managed to wrestle the head collar onto her head, but now she was refusing to budge. Mo was looking at her with distaste, she knew she was going in to be pampered and Bee was preventing it. Mo knew better than to lash out at Bee though, the pinto mare knew that she would be worse off. Archie let the lead rope go loose, and then Bee decided it was time to go. She shot into action and Archie was just quick enough to keep a hold on the lead rope. He and Mo jogged to keep up with the flea-bitten mare, who now was dancing on the other side of the lead rope. Scowling, he forced her to still as he opened the gate and then closed it behind them. Then the three made their way to the yard, where Bee shot into her stall. Un-clipping the lead rope, he shut the stall door before she could rethink her decision to enter the stall without problems, and then took Mo to her stall. Once she was settled, Archie went on his way to collect the grooming kit from the tack room. Once he had got there, he scratched his head in confusion. It wasn't at all where he left it. Going in search of it, his expression grew baffled as he was no nearer finding the missing kit.
