PERSONALITY: Alex is a fun loving bundle of sarcasm? He is actually really loving towards his friends, but one just needs to get past the gruff exterior that he puts forth. He may seem really bitter, but that too is an appearance. Underneath, he is a teddy bear, and completely reliable. He does talk a lot, and most of the time it's really corny jokes. He never allows his disability to get in the way of his life, and he always lives it to the fullest. Alex is a dare-devil. He is the one that will go bungee jumping at the drop of the hat, and will never back down from a challenge.
Alex can be protective of his best friend (Bella) and will always look (excuse the pun) out for her. He does get jealous easily, and he doesn't express any enthusiasm at a guy that he doesn't approve of. Alex does not care if she has a three other brothers, he is the fourth.
Alex doesn't appreciate being helped in every little detail of his life. One must wait for him to ask for help, and only then. He isn't a fragile china plate, and therefore doesn't want to be treated as one. Alex has managed for most of his life, and is a great swimmer and athlete. He is proud that he could overcome the barriers that always seem to be in place for his kind, and in doing so has proved the world wrong
BACKGROUND: Alex was born in Italy, his mother being Greek/English. His father was originally from Italy, but has a Turkish background. When he was a year old, his parents moved to Seattle, his father finding a job with some bug company. Ironically, this turned out to be the same one that Bella's father owned. This would only be discovered much later.
His life was pretty normal, that is until he turned six. One day he was playing soccer with friends, and somehow managed to slip on concrete. He fell pretty hard, and hit his head. He was rushed to the emergency room, but was sent home with a mild concussion. A week later he was back, and this time because he fell down three stairs. His fall associated with the concussion, and was sent home. When he started school that Fall, he was given an eye test, and it was found that he was busy losing his eyesight. The concussion had damaged his optical nerves.
By the time he was eight he was completely blind. It took some getting used to, but he never lost the spunk of a young child. He didn't care if he couldn't see, but carried on like normal. He stayed in school, the sounds of his Braile machine becoming a normal sound, almost musical in fact.
He loved school, and loves music even more. He is able to play piano merely by listening to music being played. He graduated a year early, but has come to Park to join Bella, but I still have to explain their connection.
Alex started taking riding lessons when he was six, it being a theraputic thing for him. His family moved to Forks, enjoying the small town life. When he was fourteen he started riding at the same yard Bella rode at. They weren't really friends, but always joked with each other and enquired after each other's health. When Bella's accident happened, Alex was the only one who didn't believe the rumours, and the two became best friends in the time after Bella came out of a coma. It also helped that Alex was there during the time that she was in a coma. He has become another part of the family.
MISC.:Casey is a six-year old male Golden Retriever. He is actually a guide dog, but is also a companion. He is a lovable character, and knows that he is helping Alex see. Alex has had him for a year now.
