Relaxing was the only thing she had on her mind, and she had decided to take the horse that would give her the least worries for a ride. Surprisingly, this horse was Whisper. The usually highly strung gelding with his floor manners was a pleasure to ride the trails. Giving the beautiful black beast a friendly, but gentle pat as her hands were still bandaged up, she clipped him onto the cross ties. He pressed his maw affectionately into her cheek as she was about to depart to collect his saddle and bridle, which he also shared with Riddle. The two bulkier horses were rather similar in build, which meant they could share their tack with no problem. The same was said for Oscar and Flax, who were much narrower and delicately built. She would have to buy a new saddle for Fade though, along with a bridle. But they weren't at the stage of riding yet. They were still forming a well needed bond. Inspecting the irritating bandage on her hands as she walked, tempted to peel them off but she knew the stitches would make her feel woozy. She wasn't actually supposed to be riding, and if Harry found her she would be in for it. But today, she was feeling more relaxed. She found herself wanting to go and see the horses instead of it being a chore. Oscar was now being looked after by Harry, but she knew once her time looking after Theo and Maggie were up, the gelding would be back with her. Also, Fade would hopefully be sold on, but Remii found herself becoming more and more attached to the little mare. Her fate was still undecided. At least she still had a while to go before she had to decide.
Walking back to the Friesian gelding, she saw that he had something clutched between his ivories. Tilting her cranium curiously, as she neared him she burst into laughter. There, between his teeth, was her mobile phone. He wasn't holding it tightly, and she wondered how on earth he'd got it, but it truly was a comical sight. Especially when the buttons made a noise every time he moved it, causing his audits to perk in confusion and then snort agitatedly. Placing the bridle onto the mounting block and dropping the saddle onto his back, she went around to his jaws and held her hand out expectantly. When he didn't release, she sighed. Awkwardly twisting her hand so that she could get a good grip on the phone, wincing as she did so, and pulled on it. He gave in this time, releasing the phone and pulling his top lip back over his teeth in his version of a grin. She rolled her oracles. He looked annoyingly smug with himself. Rubbing the now slobber covered devise against her jodhpurs, she then placed it into the pocket of her jacket and set about tacking the bugger up. Tightening his girth was like mission impossible with her bandaged hands, but she managed to do so. Now without a little pain, but she didn't mind. If it had been with Riddle, she'd still be there trying to make the mare breath in so she could even get the girth into the first hole. Retrieving the bridle from the mounting block, she set to work on placing it onto the gelding who was co-operating now, obviously clued into that they were going onto the trails. Otherwise, she would have her crop with her. Which she didn't. He knew that this would be a 'fun' ride, not a working ride.
Pulling down the stirrups, she checked what number they were at and was satisfied that it was the right one. Going to collect the mounting block, something she didn't usually use, she placed it beside Whisper. He looked at it gingerly, confused by its bright green coloring. She chuckled, knowing how much of a baby he was. Picking the block back up, she took it around to his face. Letting him investigate it thoroughly, he visibly relaxed. Giving him another gentle pat, she took it back around to his side and he offered no reaction this time. Silently, she mounted the stag and adjusted herself accordingly. Leaning down to check the girth, satisfied that it was tight enough she regained her seat and coaxed the gelding into a walk. He did this smoothly, and they began their trek to the trail entrance. She had decided to take the River Bank trail. Due to the fact that they would be unable to canter was a good thing, this would deny her desire to do said action. Whisper likes to have his bit when they canter, which would mean pain for her hands. She was trying to keep it as discrete as possible, hoping to show no sign that she had been riding when she went to get her stitches removed next week. Whisper seemed to know when they hit the trail. His audits sat forward on his cranium, his neck arching beautifully in his excitement. This didn't make Remii nervous though. She knew he wouldn't take off. He gave one swish of his whip cord, which was now nearly trailing the ground and she knew she would have to trim it down soon. Maybe when she got back later.
It was a Sunday. The air was cold today, but the sun was bright. Pleasant. The trail was empty so it seemed, which pleased her. The peace and quiet was relaxing for once. Her mind was silent, which was unusual when she was alone. She could hear the birds singing merrily in the trees, the faint knocking of a woodpecker against the trunk of a tree. Squirrels skittered through the under growth, and the distant bark of playing dogs caressed the air. Some of her favorite noises. She didn't have Thyme with her again today. He'd only cause trouble and she needed to relax, not become tense about what he would hunt next. Her heels lowered slightly in her stirrups and she kicked Whisper in a slow trot. He kept his neck arched as they moved, which she was proud of succeeding in teaching him to do so at such a young age. At only three, Whisper still had a lot to learn. But, he was getting there. He'd been by far the easiest for her to break, even over Oscar who'd been pretty good even after his past. They moved rhythmically. His strides were showy, which made him a wonderful dressage horse, where as her movements to match them were relaxed and almost lazy. Still, they moved well together. Her hands were giving her no pain, thankfully, so she continued at the gentle pace. Still the area around them was undisturbed. She wonder how long it would last that way.
