OOC: I want to start by apologizing. I'm moving the class along before the first lesson's finished, but I planned to end the lesson as soon as Remii and Jemma had posted. And I'm bored. Oh, and lastly,by their stables seemed like the best place for the students to get to know their horses Demeter led the last of the rescue horses out to their yards outside the barn they lived in. She felt that the first lesson had gone well, even if she did have a class full of students who would rather not speak at all - which was perfect for this class as theses were horses that needed need handlers that liked the sound of their own voices. "There's a good boy." She told Glen as she removed the Friesian's halter and closed the gate behind him releasing him to explore the yard. The yards were pretty basic and were half gravel and half grass - not that there was a lot of grass in there as most of there horses here had been starved and she couldn't chance them gorging themselves on fresh grass and getting colic. She stepped back as she surveyed the yards and the equines that they held. Each of them had their own story, each was damaged in his or her own way. She had an even amount of concern for each of the students and their charges, but she trusted and respected the students - she could hardly call the young adults, children - enough to ask for help if they needed it. Her attention was caught for a moment by the small mare down in the end yard, but her attention was not held long as she looked over at the sound of footsteps and smiled as her first student arrived.

Cara headed out to her pasture to check on Missy before she headed off to the Equine Therapy class. Today they were meeting at the vet and rehab stables to meet the horses they had chosen. She was carrying the purple tub she had purchased for the Highland pony, and inside the tub, she carried the halter and lead, the treat ball and the hanging salt lick. In her other hand she carried the grooming kit, along with the yellow rope halter and lead that belonged to the chestnut mare who's paddock she was headed toward.
"Hello beautiful." She called softly to the pony who was grazing in the middle of the field. She smiled as Missy lifted her head as the sound of her voice. The pretty mare was putting on weight quite nicely and the girl knew that it wouldn't be much longer before she asked the mare if she could ride her. She had been worried about the mare as the tracks around the fenceline let her know that Missy had taken to pacing the fence, and she thought that it must be at night, and the words of Miss Carr echoed in her head about the students being able to bring their own horses to the class if they needed to. Even though the mare seemed content to just be grazing, Cara placed the things she was holding onto the ground and entered the field.
With her halter in place, Cara led Missy from the field, collected the things she had put down and headed toward the stables where her project pony was waiting for her. She shook her head at the thought, as she had a project pony following her as well.
They walked around the back of the stables and she eyed all of the horses in the yards and the pony standing down the end, looking as though she'd rather be anywhere but there. Okay all of the horses had the same distant looks on their faces, but her attention was drawn to the yellow dun that she had requested to work with.
She looked at the empty yards and put Missy into the yard next to Risk. The yards were separated by two fences, a young sapling grew in between the fences - the back left corner of each yard already had a grown tree there for shade and a loose box in the right hand corner so that the horses could get out of the weather should it happen to rain. She kissed Missy's nose as she slipped the halter off her delicate face and left her in the yard.
She then stood at the fence of Risk's yard, the mare stood at the back of the yard, seeming to be hiding beneath the branches of the Scots Pine at the back of the yard, her head pressed into the corner where the two fences met, her tail tucked in. The girl's heart went out to the little pony. As much as she wanted to rush into the yard and throw her arms around the mare, she knew that that wasn't the way to handle this situation. She needed to get the mare to accepted her presence, but it had to be on the mare's terms.
She placed the tub and the grooming kit on the ground on either side of her feet as she continued to watch the mare, she would wait for the teacher's instructions before she got started.

Bella watched her three horses in their paddock. The geldings had settled in well, and didn't really have to adjust much to the weather. Forks was under constant rain and cloud cover, quite similar to England. Biscuit, her newest horse, wandered over to her, and she made quite a fuss of the Tobiano. Bella looked at her watch and noted the time. She would seen head off to the Equine Therapy class and see Glenn up close. She had been keeping a journal on the horse, and everything about him. In the stall he was antsy and didn't want people close to him. It was quite understandable, but it made it hard to learn his true personality.
Bella was kitted out in black breeches, paddock boots, half chaps and a long-sleeved polo shirt that was navy blue. She also had a no-sleeve fleece lined jacket. Leaving the horses behind, she walked towards the rehab barn, seeing horses in their yards. Glenn was the most recognisable, as he was the only black. Cara was already there, and standing with a grey mare. She nodded towards Ms. Carr, and went to Glenn's yard. The black horse stood with nostrils flared and back turned on her. He was pacing the fence, and Bella mentally spoke to the horse. He wanted to get out, but it would happen soon. He first needed to learn that she was trustworthy and she wouldn't hurt him. Bella waited patiently for further instructions.

Jemma was playing tag with a horse. For some that was a strange concept, but for Jemma and Spartan it was fun. Stopping for a breather, Spartan followed the girl like a puppy dog, and when she turned around galloped off, tail streaming out behind. DJ watched with interest, but didn't join in. Walking towards the mare, Jemma scratched behind her ears. Too ladylike for this game, hey girl. she said. In the adjoining paddock was Sherlock. His head hung with disinterest and his whole manner was depressed. Jemma slipped through the fence and went to go stand with him. He had started allowing Jemma to touch him on his face, but no where else. So she played with his forelock, before he ambled off.
Her watch told her that it was time to go, and Jemma half sprinted to the rehab barn. The mare she was working with was severely abused and posed a real challenge to Jemma. She had already decided that she wasn't going to use Valerian with the mare, as Eagle didn't a sedative, but rather something that will help with being depressed. Aspen and Gentian might help, or even Mimulus. Jemma decided though that she would most likely start with some Rescue Remedy and when some trust was built up between Eagle and herself, allow the mare to choose her own remedy.
At the barn there was already two other students. Eagle was in a yard, and she was the one that avoided all people. She stood with her back to the small group, and her head hung low. She had a defeated look in her eye. There were scars on her beautiful bodice, and even from a distance, Jemma could count the ribs of the mare. Her heart broke when she saw how the mare had been treated, and everything willed her to help the horse.

With one last rub of Bianco's forelock, Harry left the little filly to her mother. It was time for the next Equine Therapy class, and that meant getting to see Sunny. A quick glance at his phone showed that he wasn't going to need to rush, and he would probably still be a few minutes early. Drifting into his thoughts as he made his way down to the Vet and Rehab stables, he wondered - not for the first time - if he should get a dog. Although he was happy in his own company - albeit happier in Remii's - being around a dog wasn't like being around people. The majority of dogs were happy if you didn't talk the whole time, compared to a minority of people.
Reaching the yard, he saw the horses were all out of the barn and in their individual yards. Harry marveled at the little yards, a mixture of gravel areas and grassy areas, a beautiful tree and a shelter. When he got his own yard, each horse would live in one of these at night rather than a stable during the summer. Sunny was in the far yard, and he had to pass Cara and Jemma to reach him. The former gleaned a smile, the latter only a nod of greeting. Jemma was a quiet girl, who didn't worry him, but he had never gotten to know the girl well. Harry also passed Miss Carr, the teacher of the class, and nodded a greeting towards the woman.
Hovering outside Sunny's yard, Harry observed the horse pacing his area. The boy stood rock still, doing nothing to scare the horse. It could be classed as a result that the horse would pace the fence line where he was stood, rather than avoiding it.

cause the last time you saw meis still burned in the back of your mind------------------------------ you gave me roses and i left them there to die Remii had been darting around everywhere. Last night she had slept at her grandfathers as she'd been working with his new equine, who still had no name. Her brows had risen dramatically when she caught sight at the miniature pony, but what ever made Evan happy was fine with her. Anyway, after that she'd raced back to the college to feed her five horses, and ride Flax briefly as he was getting more and more worked up about something or other. So, after he'd been exercised, she'd had to walk Thyme which had been eventful in itself as he'd chased three damn rabbits. If that wasn't enough, when she'd come back from walking Thyme, she checked on her five who were still inside to find Riddle escaped from her stall. Not bothering to put her back in, she'd taken her and Fade to the pastures and left the geldings inside. Now she was vacating the Broodmare barn after checking on Maggie, the mare that had been assigned to her for Equine Reproduction. Her features were creased with stress, knowing she was going to have to cut down her workload dramatically. Mentally running over things in her mind, she frowned. She'd just added two more things to her to do list. She now had Theo, the equine she was assigned for ET class which she was on her way to now, to care for, and she also had a part time job starting soon. She needed the money, she couldn't rely on her grandfather all the time.
She turned the corner to enter the Rehabilitation center, sighing when she saw that she was last again. Her brow creased once more as she saw the row of horses, each with their respective students. between a Saddlebred who looked way too underweight and a Friesian who was positively beautiful and looked startlingly similar to Whisper was a cute Appaloosa. He wasn't as fetching looking as the other horses, yet she'd been drawn to him for that too. None of her horses, except Whisper, were flashy or particularly specially marked. Theo had wonderful markings though, large spots along his neck and face which could almost be solid if they were a little larger. Making her way to the yard that held Theo, she ran her eyes over him closely, noting what was wrong with him. Although she had poured over his file, it was much better to see them close up. Her heart went out to him, her past worries about taking on too much evaporated. Well, mentally anyway. It showed on her face, she was paler than usual and much skinnier, not that she had much weight on her bony frame anyway. She also had heavy, black bags under her eyes from the lack of sleep. Still, she knew she couldn't get rid of any of her horses nor stop caring for both Theo and Maggie when they needed it. Casting a glance along the line of yards, she saw Harry with his equine and gave a soft smile, unsure if he'd seen it or not. She bounced on her heels as she awaited the teacher to give her further instructions, itching to get her hands on Theo.
so this is me swallowing my pride standing in front of you saying sorry --------------------------------- for that night and i go back to december .tagged. ET class .words. 535 .outfit. coming soon?! .notes. quite like it ^^ .lyrics. back to december - t.s. .credit. <33 @ CAUTION 2.0 [/left]

Demeter smiled a greeting to each student as they arrived. She nodded to Cara as the girl walked toward the yards leading a slightly underweight mare as well as a handful of other things that looked to be brand new. She smiled brightly as Bella walked up closely followed by Jemma and watched as the two of them walked up to their chosen horses. She was glad that none of the students had asked to work with the same animal as she didn't like having to tell people to pick again, there was a reason that a person had picked an animal and she wasn't one to argue with gut feelings. Her bright smile remained in place as Harry arrived, followed by Remii who looked as though she should be crawling into bed rather than attending a class - that was the woman's personal observation, not a criticism of the girl's character. Her eyebrows lifted as not a single word passed between the students and she shook her head slightly in amusement, this was going to be an interesting group of people to work with.
When she was ready, she picked up her clipboard and stepped forward, clearing her throat gently to draw the attention of the students without needing to clap her hands and startling the horses. "Welcome to the class." She said gently, pleased that her voice carried well without the need to raise it. "First off I thank you for meeting me at the stables here rather than the Rehabilitation Center." She held up the clipboard. "As some of you may know, and those that don't, I am a qualified veterinarian. I'm not the college vet, but I do tend to all of these horses. If you see that they are in need of my assistance, please let me know. Also, I have the farrier on speed dial should any of you want their feet done, A-Sap, let me know." She held a finger up, not that she was worried that any of them would attempt to speak out. "However, in desperate need of having their feet done as they may be, I will completely understand if you want to wait until you and your friend are totally comfortable in each others presence." She dropped the board back to her side. "I'm now going to get off my soapbox and leave you to it. I'll still be here, but what you do now is completely up to you. I'm here if you have any questions." She gave an impish grin toward Harry and Remii. "I even have a stack of notepaper."

Harry was graced with a ghost of a smile from Cara in return to his own as the boy passed her to reach his chosen horse. She turned from Risk's yard as the teacher started speaking. She had seen that the poor Highland's hooves were horribly overgrown, but she didn't want to put a mare who wanted nothing to do with anyone through the torment of having to be held to have her feet done until she had worked through the wall the pretty pony had built up around herself.
At the word from Miss Carr, she turned back to the pony's yard. It didn't surprise her that Risk hadn't moved a muscle. She looked at the tree that the mare cowered under, knowing that from that tree was where she needed to hang the saltlick, but she couldn't do that until the mare moved away - and she had to move away by choice, not by being bullied into moving. With a decisive nod, she knew the place to start would be to put some work into working on the mare's internal and external problems; the worms and the one thing that was not mentioned on her info sheet, her condition.
Keeping her movements slow and gentle so not to spook any of the horses, she emptied the thing out of the tub, she then stood up and carried the tub into stable and through to the feed room, she had been in here earlier in the week and set herself up in the corner of the room, walking over to this area, she opened the bin that held the light conditioning muesli. She put two scoops of the feed into the bin and closed the lid again. Placing the tub onto the bin, she then began to sort through her herbs and added the dried herbs: kelp, comfrey, hawthorn, wormwood, and echinacea. She then used a measuring spoon and took out the correct amount of pomegranate, melon, pumpkin, mustard, aniseed and fennel seeds. She then measured in the cider vinegar. Next she added the fresh herbs: thyme, clivers, soaked nettle and three bruised garlic cloves. She then grated some carrot on top of the mixture. After washing she hands and drying them thoroughly, she mixed the feed together. She then added a handful of dried mint to try and tempt the mare to at least inspect the food if not eating it. Picking up the tub, she carried it back outside and walked up to the gate of the yellow dun's yard and entered. She noticed that the mare looked in her direction, but the way the mare's tail tucked further against her and she seemed to almost tremble at the thought of the girl coming too close, Cara just took another half a dozen steps forward so that she was a good distance away from the fence and placed the tub down. She then exited the yard with not even a word or a kiss in the mare's direction.
Standing on the outside of the yard again, she watched the mare. A tiny smile curved her lips as the pretty pony turned her head in the direction of the tub, as the wind had caught the fragrances of the feed and it drifted in the mare's direction. The girl held her breath as the mare stretched out in the direction of the feed but didn't move.
Letting out the breath, Cara turned her attention to the things she had placed on the ground. Pulling a bag of horse treats out of her pocket along with the rest of the carrot she had used to grate into the mare's feed, she dropped some of the treats into the ball and breaking the carrot into bits she added this to the treat ball as well before she closed the ball up. she would place this in the yard before she left for the day. She then looked at the lick that she planned to hang in the tree that the mare stood under, she knew the easiest way to hang it there would be to climb the tree - as height wasn't exactly in her advantage - but again that would wait for later.

Harry listened attentively to the teacher's speech, pondering what would be the best course of action in regards to Sunny's hooves. From what he had learnt of the horse, the gelding had never been properly handled, so everything like that would be new to him. And although he seemed to be curious about people, Sunny was fearful of almost everything at the moment. Okay, so his feet would have to wait a while. The notepaper comment made him grin, but it slipped a second later, he was concerned about Remii.
The way forward with the Quarab horse seemed to be playing on his curiosity, so Harry realized he needed to be interesting but not scary. Sunny was on the underweight side anyway, Harry wandered down to the feed room. He hadn't put many supplies in the feed store yet, so he just grabbed a bucket and put a scoopful of plain chaff in. Harry smiled at Remii as he passed her, and observed Cara putting some feed down for the Highland pony she was working with. He made a mental note to ask her about making up a spray for Sunny, they had spoken about it the other day at the tack store in town. When he got back to his gelding's yard, the horse was still pacing around the outer edge. Sunny was opposite the gate when Harry slipped through it and leant against it, the bucket of feed placed at his feet. From here, Sunny could quite easily pace his pen avoiding the boy, or continue on the path he was, and come up to him.
Harry stood like a statue, the food was meant to the main interest at the moment, and accepting Harry being there a secondary thing. It was a pretty similar thing as to how he would work with a youngster who was simply unhandled. A smile pulled at the corner of his lips as Sunny turned the corner and was approaching him from the side. The horse slowed, starting a loop around him about 5m away. Harry dropped his eyes to the ground, Sunny in front of him. His neck stretched down and he blew gently through his nostrils. With his neck stretched as far as it could, Sunny lipped the edge of the feed bucket, then a mouthful of food. A second later his head went up and he jumped a few steps away. Harry smiled, it was progress.
ooc: it's rather disjointed in places, but I liked it overall, I think.

Melissa sprinted to her Equine Therapy class, knowing that she would cut her time very close. She's been late because Sham had been harassing Levi this morning, and the big horse had been thoroughly confused with the mare's reaction. After she'd locked Sham away in her stall as a punishment, leaving Levi with the ever-calm Samba, Lissa had realized her tardiness.
She skidded to a halt a good ways away, so as not to spook the horses. She came forward, barely in time to catch Dr. Carr's words, and scanned the pastures for her gelding. Not that he was hard to miss. The big was as tall as Levi, but where Levi was gangly, Top Hat was handsome and elegant. But, there was a mistrusting aura that seemed to cloak him, and Melissa could see how withdrawn he'd made himself.
As soon as she got the release to go, she made her way to the feed room. Yesterday, she'd made a point of putting her stuff in a secure spot in the room, because she knew she may forget it. She picked up the gelding's chart and read his feeding guidelines quickly, then put it in his feeding tub.
She carried out and opened the gate quietly, slipping inside. Top Hat had seen her coming and stood tense at the back of the pen. Meliss didn't even look at him, and simply walked to the middle of the pen and set the bucket down. Then she reached in and scopped out a handful before wakling to the corner of the pen towards the gate and standing there. Top Hat glanced at her, then the food, and back again before warily coming forward. He sniffed the rim of the bucket before dropping his nose inside to eat. Melissa saw how he remained tense, and his eyes never left her figure once. She then exited quietly, grabbing the water hose. She then took it inside his pen and began to fill his trough, keeping an eye on him, but acting like she wasn't watching him. She still had the feed in her hand.
When he finished eating, Melissa took the hose out, then came back. She slowly crouched down to put the feed on a patch of grass, then took a few steps back. She would wait a few seconds, then take some more. When her back touched the gate, she left. Top Hat waited until she was gone, then came forward. He sniffed the feed she'd held in her hand, nosed it and lipped it, but did not eat it. Melissa nodded, as though realizing something.
