Simon woke up with a song in his heart. His natural high from seeing Hayden was still present, and he couldn't help but smile. A lot. A quick shower removed any traces of old dirt from his body, and he got dressed into his usual riding habit. His black Ariat field boots were polished and he decided to black breeches. It was still early on a still cool Saturday morning. A layer of mist hung on the ground, as Simon stepped outside zipping up the fleece jacket. Black gloves were present on the piano-like hands, and a set of sunglasses blocked the green eyes. Horses had just been fed, and some snorted impatiently as they stood in their stalls. His feet led him toward a bay gelding named Grande Victoire or Vic. A navy blue stable blanket covered the horse, and polo wraps his legs. With a friendly nicker, the gelding approached Simon, and fondly he gave the bay a carrot or two. Simon didn't bring a horse to the Academy, but was assigned one of the school horses rather. Vic was naturally full of himself and very playful, but the two were still bonding, and today would be the first time that they would be having a proper workout together.
Simon popped into the tack room to fetch the horse's saddle and bridle. Everything was clean and polished to perfection. Simon entered the stable and removed everything from Vic. He checked the horse's legs first before feeling for bumps or lumps anywhere else. A quick brush removed any dust particles, and soon Simon was leading Vic to the outdoor arena. The sun had risen somewhat, and the mist was disappearing fast. Simon had come a long way from his beginner state a few years ago, to the point where he was schooling horses. A lot of hard work had gone into his riding. Somewhat forgetful, Simon had forgotten his helmet, and didn't realise until he was mounted and warming up Vic.
The horse was sometimes excitable and loved to throw in a few bucks along the way. During the warm up trot, Vic was well-behaved and this worried Simon a bit. There was something going on. Simon worked on extending and collecting the fairly large strided bay, before doing the same in a canter. Both the two were tired and Vic had flecks of white forming on him. Simon had decided to allow the gelding to have a gallop before they would cool off. The arena was empty, and Simon cued the horse into a gallop from a canter. Vic responded well, and galloped easily. What Simon wasn't expecting was the massive buck that rolled from the bay's shoulder's and followed through to his hind legs. Simon was pitched head/shoulder first into the soft earth while Vic bucked wildly in the rest of the arena. Simon saw nothing but black afterwards.

And with the faint taste of cigarettes You write Hallelujah songs Ain’t it wonderful, you feelin’ alright, so I tickle up your backbone And at the break of the day you sank into your dream world

Jemma walked from the paddocks. Her cowboy boots crunched in the gravel, and she walked with a steady pace. The horses were doing fine and even Sherlock seemed perkier than usual. With winter approaching fast the horses had grown thick, shaggy coats that made them look like giant teddy bears. A whinny in the distance alerted Jemma to a horse. Snapping out of her thoughts she looked up to see a pretty bay charging around the outdoor arena. She picked up the pace only to see that the horse was riderless. Slowing down she whistled softly. The horse slowed and snorted. He walked over to her, and Jemma slowly worked her way down to the reins. She grabbed them and then went to the fallen rider.
She wasn't one for accident's but she happened to be there. Turning the man over she saw that it was Simon. She knew the boy when he was at Blue Ridge, and had seen him around the College, but didn't have time to talk to him yet. By the looks of it he was unconscious, and there wasn't a sound that escaped him. Feeling for a phone, Jemma soon found his and called an ambulance. Next she knew that where Simon was, Hayden wouldn't be too far. She found his number and dialed. No answer but she left a message. Hayden, it's Jemma. Listen there's been an accident. Simon is on his way to the hospital. Meet us there, she said, speaking hurriedly. Not even a few minutes had passed until she saw the ambulance. Flagging them down, she explained who would be meeting Simon at the hospital. Seeing the Ambulance drive off she quickly put the gelding back in his stall. She got into her truck and followed the ambulance, hoping that Hayden would be there.
