Demeter led Nickel and Dime toward Lockwood Stables, the broodmare barn where the mare would stay until her baby was weaned and they could both have their own stalls in the staff stables. She held onto Nickle's lead rope while Dime walked calmly beside his dam, sporting his own halter with the lead looped around his neck and tied to the halter ring beside the clip.
As they got to the stall, she swung the door wide and went to led the mare through and frowned when Nickle planted her feet. "What's wrong girl?" She asked as she clicked her tongue and tried to walk forward again.
Nickle planted her hooves as she looked over at her son and gave a warning nicker, telling him to stay where he was until she said otherwise. Looking back at her human, she blew out through her nostrils and looked back toward the stall door.
Shaking her head, Demeter stepped forward and led the willing mare into the stall. She loosened her hold on the rope so that the chestnut had the full length of it to investigate the entirety of the large box that she would call home. "Does it meet your standards. Highness?" She asked the horse with a laugh.
Nickel looked at the woman before she investigated the feed bin and water bucket, sipping at the water as her ears flickered back and forth, Seeming happy with the place at last, she looked out the door and nickered to the colt, who didn't need to be told twice and quickly found the security of his dam's side before shoving his head under her belly and nursing.
Demeter pulled the stall door and closed it softly so as not to spook the baby who had entered so willingly. She then unclipped the mare's lead rope and once the colt had finished, she untied the rope and slipped his halter off. "I'll be back." She told Nickle as she kissed her nose. "You need a groom." Letting herself out of the stall, she headed down to the tack room where the mare's grooming kit was already waiting.

“Hey! Off!” she scolded the colt as she left the stall. The buckskin Arabian had his jaws clamped on the bottom of her shirt, yanking on it to prevent the blonde haired female leaving the stall. She chuckled and scratched between his audits. Behind him, her own audits flattened against her neck, was his mother. Not the most welcoming of mares, Tulip just tolerated Lauren long enough to place a feed bucket inside. But, her friendly offspring had grown attached to Lauren. Prying his jaws clear of her shirt, she promised she would be back later to see him. Seemingly satisfied, he went around to the back of the stall and nosed at his mothers feed bucket, investigating the content before going to his source of food. She left the handsome colt nurse from his mother and went to check on Rain. Rain was the next mare due to foal. She should be going into labor any day soon. The nervous mare came to the stall door but didn't offer her cranium out for Lauren to pet. Instead, Lauren had to reach inside. Opening the stall door, she walked in with the bucket of feed for the rotund mare. Checking her over, it seemed she would still be in wait for the little foal to arrive. She wasn't showing any signs of labor just yet. Giving the mare one last pat, she left the stall. It was now time to check on her own horses.
Entering the stall which held Layla and Ozzy, the Donkey mare and her colt, Lauren grinned. Ozzy's whole frame quivered in excitement when he saw Lauren. He brayed in his high pitched tone and darted for her. He butted her leg and reached up for her. She stooped down and offered her cheek to him, which he snuffled at happily. Laughing heartily, she gave him a kiss on the maw. Straightening up, she went over to Layla. Relaxed as usual, one audit flickered forward in acknowledgement, but nothing else happened. Her owner rolled her eyes and ran her hand along her neck. They had already been fed, this was just a check up. Sunshine was yet to be fed though, the Palomino Andalusian in the stall beside the donkeys. Leaving the pair's stalls, she knew Sunshine was in need of some pampering. Feeling a little hot and bothered lately, only 2 months off giving birth, Sunshine wasn't herself. The beautiful mare couldn't settle at all. Lauren decided that she would spoil the mare for a couple of hours. Everyone else was pretty much cared for, and checks on Rain every now and then was all that was needed. Dumping the feed bucket inside the mare's stall, giving her a pat before leaving to go and get the grooming kit.
Wandering lazily over to the tack room, she looked over to the stall which had it's door open not so long ago. She knew that a staff member was bringing in a mare and colt today, and it seemed they had arrived. The laid back female hadn't even noticed, causing her to chuckle quietly. Entering the tack room, her oracles fell on a woman. She took her to be the new arrival's owner. “Nickel and Dime's owner?” she asked, grinning in her friendly fashion. She didn't ever really take in peoples name, referring to them as a horses owner. She only ever really made the effort to call someone by their actual name if she liked them or knew them well enough. “Lauren Jones, Barn Manager.” she offered out her hand to shake with the woman, again her friendly smile was in place. All of a sudden, there was a commotion. A snort and a snarl, causing the woman to roll her oracles. Jesse and Patrick had arrived. The skidding of claws rounded the corner to the tack room, and in flew the small Norfolk terrier. Close on his heels was the larger Kune Kune pig. The two beasts stopped in their tracks when they saw the new person. Patrick snorted happily, where as Jesse trotted over to the woman, his tail wagging happily. “And this is Jesse and Patrick.” she told her, gesturing to each in turn.

Demeter had just picked up Nickle's grooming kit when the sound of a woman's voice caught her attention. She laughed as the woman announced her as the owner of her horses. "It's good to meet you, Lauren." She said as she shook the woman's hand. "Yes, I own Nickle and Dime. Most people however, call me Demi."
Her eyebrows shot up as a noise filled the air and was quickly followed by the arrival of a small canine and a pig. "Cute." The woman said as she bent down and scratched Jesse behind the ears.
She held up the grooming kit. "I'd better head back before Nicki thinks that she's been forgotten." With another smile, she headed out of the tack room and back down to the stall that housed mother and son. She arched an eyebrow as Nickle gave a warning snort right before she opened the door. Looking over the door though, she saw that Dime had chosen that the door was the best place to lean against before he fell asleep. "Let's hope that's one habit he grows out of." She whispered, chuckling softly as the colt's ears flickered but he didn't move.
The woman looked at the kit in her hand and the colt sleeping against the door. The mare was in desperate need of a good groom, but she also knew that Nickle would be far from impressed if her son was woken up. "This would be me caught between a rock and a hard place."
