With a steady limp the male entered the barn. Curious heads poked over the stall doors and looked at him. Two shaggy dogs merely stared with disinterest and waited for their master's orders. Once he sussed out the situation, Quinn moved on towards his office to find out what was going on there. The first day on the job, and he just wanted to rest. He could feel winter in his bones and when winter struck, it usually struck in very painful ways. The dogs walked beside their master, and looked at him. “I'm okay boys. Stop worrying,” he said, but a slight flinch marred his handsome face.
In the office was fairly well set paperwork, and all he had to do was record the next farrier visits, who rides who, and so on. The horses were all top class and Quinn was just glad that he had no sorting out to do. He took some painkillers and sat down on the couch that was in the office. How he hated the steel plates in his back, but every time he had thoughts like that, he remembered that he could be in a wheelchair with no use of his legs at all.
The two shepherds lounged on the floor, and for some light reading, Quinn was reading through some or other book on horse health. He knew it all, but he enjoyed refreshing his memory on subjects that might have been forgotten at some point.
