Cara looked out the window of the taxi she was traveling in. She had been picked up from the airport half an hour ago and if the maps she had checked were correct, she was almost at her destination.
Her cat-coloured eyes watched rolling landscape outside the window. She released a contented sigh and a natural smile touched her lips for what felt like the first time in years. She was finally home. She may have spent her first few years in America and the past handful there as well, but England was where she called home.
The driver pulled up outside a large building and killed the engine. "Would you like help with your bags, Miss?" He asked as he stepped out and opened the door for her.
The lithe girl stepped out of the vehicle and shook her head gently. "Thank you, but no." She said, her softly spoken voice caressed the air as she walked around to the back of the taxi and took out her two duffel bags, a handful of garment bags and a backpack. Unzipping the front pocket on her pack, she took out her wallet and paid the driver with a soft word of thanks.
Once the taxi had pulled away, she turned to look at the building once more. Drawing in a deep breath, she walked up the steps and headed down to the secretary's office. As she walked down the hall, her mind spun with thoughts. She was still struggling with the fact that even though she had only turned eighteen only a few weeks ago, she had broken free of the restrictions of the social services. She was still a little suspicious with all that had happened since her graduating BRRA when she was sixteen, but she shook the suspicions off for now.
She pressed her lips together as she entered the small office and walked toward the desk.
After a quick conversation with the lady behind the desk, she was informed of her lodgings, handed a key and sent on her way over to the Dakota Halls
