Name: Gawain (was La Fae) Barn Name: Minstrel Age: 6 Breed: Thoroughbred Colour: Chestnut Gender: Mare History and Personality: Gawain is a mare who was just as cruelly mistreated early in life as Bayfyre. But her mistreatment was not as harsh, as she did better in her show competitions. The sad part is that she and Bayfyre are full blooded siblings. La Fae is six. She’s very talented, but skittish as well. She spooks easily and is extremely nervous around humans. She is like her brother’s seeing eye dog as his sight has been going. She also saw the cruelty that was forced upon him and can be protective of him if she doesn’t trust someone. Discipline: Dressage Owner/Rider: Serena van der Woodsen

After Name: Ahearn (changed from Bayfyre) Barn Name: Firefly Breed: Thoroughbred Age: 8 Colour: Bay History and Personality: This bay Thoroughbred gelding has had a difficult life. At a young age he was taken away from his mother, and at two years old he was roughly broken to an English saddle. At age three, he was trained to jump and was entering his first competition. He didn’t do well, as he was nervous, scared, and was terrified of the rider on his back. After the show he was crammed into a dark stall for a week and starved of food and water. When he was taken out, it was to be shipped to another show. Again he did badly. And so was the pattern of his life until now, at eight. He is malnourished slightly, and light hurts his eyes. He’s going blind, and could be at age ten. Usually people wouldn’t want a horse who isn’t going to have his sight, but this gelding, called Bayfyre by his rescuers, is perfectly able to compete in some western classes when a good rider has him competing and is cueing him. Obviously, he's horrified at the smell of humans and will run away at his cautious trot. Discipline: Hack Owner/Rider: Serena Waldorf
