Well, I have a lot of animals in my ark - two dogs, a cat, two rabbits, a bird, and a pony - but I think the animal I'd like to honor right now is my lamb that I'm raising this year for my FFA project, and the reason I so busy (and the current source of my bout of ringworm! )
This is Loralei, though she's sometimes called "Lolly-Loo", "Juniorette", and "Ette". She's a Southdown ewe lamb weighing in at about 135 Ibs.
I've had her for almost three months now, and we've only been in one show, placing 6th out of 7th. I actually got her the day before the show.... Yeah....
In our barn, we do not usually keep any of our livestock besides rabbits after our county show. Female cows, pigs, and sheep will all return to breeders while poultry, goats, and unclaimed rabbits and the males of the other animals go to meat. So, after Febuary, I will no longer own Lolly-Loo.
Loralei is a demanding, yet affectionate creature. She enjoys meeting new people, and is actually willing to learn. When I do need to reprimend her (We do slap them occasionally, but it's like spanking a child), she usually corrects herself before I do. She's a curious thing too, and is smarter than most would think.
I could go on and on about her, but I shall not. Y'all should hear our barn drama though; "The Life of a Cibolo Creek FFA Animal". It includes gay interspecies relationships, big sisters, straight interspecies crushes, and maybe even incest!(gasp!) We could write a book about it.

Awwh, she is lovely! What a beautiful creature, and I do love the fluffiness of her legs - is that done as part of how the breed should look or a showing thing? I hope you have better luck in your next show with her, although at least you didn't come last

Thanks Lottii! And the wool on the legs is common for our three barn breeds, Southdowns, Crosses, and Blacks, but when we shear them for show, we have to trim the legs with clippers and scissors because using shear will make them bleed. She's not show clipped in any of these photos, so her leg-wool is long, as is her body wool.
We shear them because the judge needs to be able to feel how muscular they are, and wool can hide muscling. Same for the view - you should see the muscle, and wool will hide it. We don't do anything with the shorn wool, except throw it away.
And our next show is this Saturday... Fingers crossed! (And I promise more photos!)

Ah okay - tucks away knowledge-. I still love the fluffiness though xD. It makes sense about seeing the muscles, I'm sure she had wonderful legs tucked away under there. Good luck for Saturday, know you two know each other I am sure you will do way better, and I can't wait to see more pretty pics

She did really good in the show; she's just really fat, so we placed third... In our class of three. Luckily, it's just the chapter show, so it's nothing too serious. Since I've clipped her recently, I've learned she's pretty much ringworm free. Also, in the chapter show, we had a baked goods contest that we are required to enter. I made fudge. It got first in the candy class and reserve champion out of the whole competition. Oh, and Loralei's penmate, Carlos, got first in his class. He's just sexy awesome like that.

Well done, as long as she showed herself well and proved she can do it, that's what matters Wow, I'm a fudge addict, and infamously known for selling it at school. That's pretty awesome, congrats. Swap recipes sometime? Go sexy Carlos xD
