Happy-Go-Lucky Josh is pretty much always smiling. Even when he tries to pull a straight face, there is a slight lift in his lips that give him away. He always has a joke for those who are down and would never seek out to hurt someone. He aims to please and usually does. One thing he cannot handle is someone crying. It freaks him out and his first instinct is to laugh and then make a joke. People usually just tend to shoo him away, he can sometimes make the person a little more upset as he doesn't think before he speaks in situations like that. He also gets very nervous around people, especially men, that fly into fits of rage. He shrinks away and will flee for a good few hours if this happens.
Even though he is usually smiling and laughing, he has been hurt before. He had an abusive father which means he cannot trust men at all, even his grandfather was a little rough around the edges. He hates confrontation, and will burst out laughing in awkward situation. Thankfully, he hasn't turn to self harm. He's more of the suffer in silence type. He will try and help others with their problems, but doesn't like to unload his own upon someone. He likes to make people smile, and will try whatever he can to do so. He believes that now that he is out of the dark times in his life, he should be able to smile and laugh as much as he likes.
He thrives from company and likes to be surrounded by a large group of people. Maybe it makes him feel safe, but otherwise the answer is unknown. He just likes the hustle and bustle, the attention that he craved when he was younger. He like contact with others and will place his hand on someones arm if he's talking to them, and if he knows you well enough he doesn't hesitate to put his arm around you, or hold your hand or give you a hug. His friends don't mind as they are used to it, and he would never do it if the person didn't like it.
Josh is very musically talented. Whether it be singing or playing the guitar, he cannot help but play a tune. He's always writing songs and does aspire to be a musician when he is older. He used to be in a band before moving to Park, and hopes to set one up here too. He has the 'rocker' look down. With his long hair and tattoo marred skin, he could easily pass as one which many girls adore. Some fall over themselves to be around him, especially when he and his band played their gigs, and they are genuinely surprised by his sweet nature. He's had a few girlfriends but has never really clicked with anyone. He does love the female attention, there is no denying that. But, he's also not one to take advantage.
He absolutely adores animals and has two terriers that keep him company as well as two horses. He loves his dogs and they go everywhere with him. When he and his band were at gigs, they would be there as their little mascots and were almost as well known as the band. He will speak to them no matter who is around and has all the time in the world for them. If one is ill, everything has to stop until they get better. They are always playing though, and are amusing to watch as the terriers have Josh wrapped around their little paws.
BACKGROUND:
Brought up in Dublin, Ireland, Josh didn't have an easy life. His father was abusive, he'd beat Josh daily soon after he turned four. His mother, at first, tried to defend her son. She succeeded for a while, until his father nearly killed her and then she gave up. The motive to his fathers beatings? He was jealous that his son was getting all the attention from his wife. This made him resent Josh and the poor boy never had it easy. He'd go to school, covered in bruises and cuts. When confronted, he'd been rehearsed to tell the teachers that he fell. With no evidence, they had to step back and watch the boys soul seep out of him slowly. At twelve, his father sent him to stay with his grandmother and grandfather for a while. He moves schools, settled down and the true boy shone through. Then, the same fate was dealt to him again. His grandfather became abusive when the boy got too much attention from his grandmother. Josh was heartbroken. He'd though he'd escaped. Again, he retreated into himself again. One thing that did keep him sane though, was horses. His grandmother had always been a keen rider and passed on an old mare to him. He took care of her until she died.
At sixteen, Josh left school. He decided to take up a job at a supermarket, saving up money and buying two youngsters for himself. He had since moved back to his parents, whom had had two children since he left. It seemed that they had suffered the same beatings as himself. Instead of sitting back, he protected his siblings, and then, when it got too much, he called social services. Their suspicions of him being beaten were confirmed, and his siblings were taken off his parents. His mother also left, and his father was now alone. Good riddance. Josh left without a word, staying with his mother until she was deemed fit to have her other children back. He has now bid his good byes and moved to England with his horses and dogs. Now happy with his life, he cannot wait to get started at his new school. But, will his fear of men mean that he cannot cope with some of the classes? He hopes not, but who can be sure..
MISC.:
Tattoo. This is Josh's tattoo which he got when he was 16. He's not sure why he got it, but he liked the design.
Boo. Boo is a male Jack Russell Terrier. At five years old, he still acts like a pup. Very energetic and hyperactive, he can't keep still for longer than five minutes. Luckily, Josh always has time to walk him. He's been with Josh for two years, coming from an Animal Rescue in Dublin. He and Josh's other dog came together and are inseparable.
Helena. Helena is a female Irish Terrier. She is around three years old and very much a lady. Haughty in her ways, nothing is good enough for her. She strides around like she owns the place and she does know she is boss in the relationships between herself, Boo and Josh.
