PLAY BY: George Clooney
FULL NAME: David Matthew Thomas
NICKNAMES: Dai
AGE: 51
GENDER: Male
ETHNICITY: Welsh
JOB: Doctor
RESIDENTIAL AREA: Cedar Street
PERSONALITY:
Dai is a joker. He's a lovely man and very caring, he never fails to bring a smile to someones face. He adores company, and always is the life and soul. His granddaughter loves that he can make her smile, even on a bad day. Where as he is a joker, he is also fiercely protective of his family. His wife and granddaughter mean the world to him and he would do anything to keep them safe. He kicks himself daily for not helping his daughter who died. (Shall be explained in history).
He'll do anything to make his family happy, which means working all hours to earn the money to do so. His wife tries to tell him to lower his work load, as it shall make him ill, but he believes that he must do as much as possible. That doesn't mean he has no time to spend with his family, he makes sure he's home for dinner, even if it is only a flying visit. If Chloe want's to ring him at work for a chat, he has all the time in the world for her. He also always makes time at the weekend to see her ride, where as Caroline usual does it in the week. He hasn't slipped up once and loves spending time with his granddaughter looking after her pony.
Very well education, the native Welsh man was always destined to be a Doctor. From as far back as he could trace his family tree, everyone had been in the medical industry. He's always been fascinated with the human body and his need to help people made it an obvious choice to be a doctor. He adores life at the hospital, the hustle and bustle is infectious. He cannot help but grin when he makes someones life better, but it also comes with its downfalls. He becomes very close with the patients under his care, and if one passes away, it is heart breaking. Yet, instead of discouraging his staff to keep their hearts out of it, he encourages it. It would be cruel not to.
His gentle nature means that he will never hurt a fly. But that doesn't mean he isn't threatening. If he believes you are doing wrong, he doesn't have to use his fists. He could cut you down to size in minutes, which makes him a good boss as nobody tries to pull the wool over his eyes. He will find out. He's very observant and nothing every gets past him. He'll let it go on for a little while, make it seem as if you are getting away with it, and then pounce on you and give you a thorough telling off. He's not one to let things go. He will remain suspicious of you if you have gotten on his bad side once. You honestly do not want to be there. His wife always has said he has they eyes of a hawk and the bite of a lion.
A big animal lover, Dogs hold a huge part in his life. The Labrador breed as well as the Retriever were what he grew up with and he knew he would have his own when he was older. He did so, started breeding them two years before Chloe arrived. Now he is pretty well respected in the breeding circuit as well as the showing which he does in his free time. He has also loved horses and knew he wanted Chloe to grow up loving them, so bought her a Pony pretty much as soon as she could walk. She's had Bramble for years now and he adores the pony as much as she does.
BACKGROUND:
Growing up in Swansea, a medium sized town in south Wales, David had a good life. His parents, both Doctors, raised him to be considerate and thoughtful, not to jump to conclusions and not to be too serious. School was quite easy for him, well the more practical subjects anyway. He was never an artistic man, and was most definitely tone deaf. Still, he would sign up for the Eisteddfod, which celebrated Saint David's Day every 1st of March, and made a fool of himself. He was popular, on the Rugby team and eventually made captain in his last two years at his comprehensive school. He then went on to University, Oxford to be exact, and met the love of his life, Caroline.
The pair married when he was 21. They graduated and went onto their jobs. He started out in a small Welsh hospital, up in the North. Caroline was working in the police station near by. Both advanced quickly, moving back to Swansea to work in the bigger locations. Caroline then fell pregnant with twin boys, who were both born healthy. Three years later, she had a daughter. That would be the last of the children. They remained in Swansea for the time being to raise the children and see them through school. Shortly after finishing Comprehensive school, their daughter fell pregnant. The result was Chloe. They were all happy about it, and promised to look after the youngster as her mother went off to train to join the army, something they weren't as fond of. But, not ones to object, they cheered when she was recruited and wrote many letters when she was on placement.
Two years ago though, tragedy struck. Their daughter had been out fighting in Afghanistan when a bomb had gone off. It had been attached to the underside of her vehicle. There were no survivers out of the five that where in there. Devastated, the whole family broke down. David and the twins felt as if they should have been able to persuade her from signing up in the first place, Caroline had no idea what to do with Chloe who kept asking for her mother. They eventually broke the news, but the little girl was very grown up about it. This caused the family to get back to reality. Her body was brought home for the funeral and they decided they couldn't stay in Swansea any more. It was too much. They moved to Cardiff for a while, but then both Caroline and Dai were offered jobs in Park which corresponded with both their careers. Now, David, Caroline, Chloe, Bramble and the dogs have all moved to Park, leaving the twins in Cardiff. They cannot wait to start with their new jobs and lives, but will always have the memory of their daughter haunting them silently in the back of their minds. David is only keeping up appearances for Chloe. Otherwise he would have broken down years ago.
MISC.: His Wife and Granddaughter are also coming to live with him. Also has several dogs, breeds Labradors and Golden Retrievers.

LABRADORS
Henry. Henry is a beautiful male black Labrador of seven years old. He is Dai's closest companion and has won many a dog shows at his masters side. He has sired many pups, even is now after he has retired from the show ring. He's quite sought after.
Lewis. Lewis is a gorgeous male chocolate Labrador of four years old. He's a boisterous fellow and is always on the go, but wonderfully natured. He adores Chloe, Dai's granddaughter, and follows her around whenever they are together. Dai hasn't shown him very much, but when he does they do very well. He has sired many pups in his short years.
Melyn. Melyn, which means Yellow in Welsh, is a beautiful female yellow Labrador. She is five years old and rather haughty in her ways. She only ever listens to Caroline, Dai's wife, and always tries to run Dai over. She does like Chloe though, but doesn't often want to be bothered by her. She's a pure winner in the show ring, only ever shown by Caroline in her spare time, and has had many pups. She has just had a litter of pups, sired by Henry.
Nos. Nos, which means Night in Welsh, is a young female black Labrador. She's the youngest of the bunch and has only just reached two. She has been shown only once and did very well for a first timer, getting second. She's currently pregnant with her first litter of pups, also sired by Henry, and is coping well. Her temperament is wonderful, she's a real sweetheart. She wouldn't hurt a fly and always wants to play.
GOLDEN RETRIEVERS
Sonny. Sonny is a gorgeous male Golden Retriever. He is 7 years of age and was bought around the same time as Henry and has a earned a big place in Dai's heart. The male always looks like he has a grin on his face and is very friendly. When shown, he gets a little too excited which sometimes lowers his placement, but Dai doesn't mind. He sires wonderful pups and is often in high demand.
Cariad. Cariad, meaning Love in Welsh, is a pretty Golden Retriever. She is four years of age and has won many shows. Her smiley nature captures the heart of any passers by and they cannot help but ruffle her fluffy ears. She adores people, namely Chloe, and makes a wonderful mother. She has just had a litter of pups, sired by Sonny.
Calon. Calon, meaning Heart in Welsh, is a beautiful Golden Retriever. At six, she's been in the showing circuit for years. Her nature is much more standoffish than the other dogs, preferring to stay alone than in the small pack that lives with Dai. She has not long had pups and they were all sold just before they moved to England, but should be pregnant again soon.
