PERSONALITY: Magic Cat is a big, bossy horse, who has a tendency to be pushy on the ground. He needs to have a job, and hates standing day to day in a stall doing nothing. Tough as nails, Magic Cat couldn’t care less for humans, and if you’re not watching him, has been known to bite more than his fair share of arms and legs.
Once you get past the initial few bucks, he is tough to beat as a working partner. Magic Cat will face anything he’s pointed at, and has never been known to run out or refuse.
HISTORY: Magic Cat was born on a prominent Kentucky Thoroughbred stud. His sire was by Giant’s Causeway, and his dam was out of a Storm Cat daughter. However, the colt turned out to be a huge disappointment in his two-year-old year, placing last in two races, and still out of the money in the others.
Seeing that his times weren’t improving, the syndicate that owned him, decided to cut their losses. Eventually, Magic Cat ended up running in low claimers. He was run hard, and finally pulled up lame one morning, following a huge loss of more than twenty lengths to the leaders.
It was that same day he was purchased by Tiffany, for only a couple of hundred dollars. His original sale price had been more than a hundred thousand. However, it proved to be more of a bargain than anyone had first thought. Magic Cat showed himself to be a horse of incredible athletic ability.
A tough competitor, he has only placed out of the ribbons once or twice in his career. His performance was enough to attract the attention of a few international riders, but Tiffany refused to sell the horse, worried he would be pushed too hard and fast on his old leg injury.
