PLAYBY: Steven R. McQueen
FULL NAME: Edward Hunt
NICKNAMES: Always known as Ed
AGE: 21 years
GENDER: Male
ETHNICITY: White British
STUDENT OR STAFF: Staff - Bennett and Mason Barn Manager
HALL: Dakota
PERSONALITY: Ed tends to keep himself to himself. He will communicate with people when necessary, but won't really speak 'out of turn'. This stems from his school years, where he suffered horrifically due to his Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which left him with a short attention span. He grew out of this by his late teens though, but never really got any good grades.
His hatred of authority comes from the same point in time. Despite being diagnosed with ADHD, a lot of his teachers refused to accept this, and treated him purely as a naughty student. He became quite withdrawn at first, but one day in his mid-teens erupted into an angry soul. Loathing teachers, police and parents alike, he found himself with a couple of warnings from the law, but avoided getting a criminal record. This was left behind in turn too, but he is still deeply suspicious of those in a higher state of power, although Ed will tolerate them in most situations.
Firmly telling Ed to do something gets his hackles up, you have a much better chance of him accomplishing something if you ask him to do it politely. This perhaps, doesn't leave him in the best position to be dealing with people as barn manager, but so long as he is treated with respect and not simply a servant, he will get along just fine.
Ed has never really had a close friend before, in school a few of the naughty kids looked up to him, for causing the trouble that he did, but he despised them. No one seemed to understand him, and that's all he ever wanted. Through college he found a group of people to hang around with, but still never grew overly close to any of them. As far as the girls are concerned, Ed isn't really interested. Although no one knows it (and in Ed's mind, no one ever will) he is an 'in the closet' bisexual. He had one steady girlfriend in college, but it was more a convenience thing than anything else. During high school he knew a girl that he felt he loved, but never made a move towards her. It left him rather anxious in love type relationships, but he would like to have a close friend to confide in sometimes.
BACKGROUND: Ed was born into a large family in a rough area of London. With four elder brothers and two younger sisters, the brothers demanded all the masculine attention, being bigger and stronger than him, whereas his little sisters were viewed as the sweet youngsters of the family. This crowded lifestyle meant his family rarely had little money to spend on the children, and his clothing consisted of hand-me-downs which didn't exactly help him fit in any better at school, especially with his other issues (explained in personality).
When he was 14 years old, during a verbal fight with one of his brothers, it escalated into a physical fight of his four brothers against him. The incident took place at school, and he was expelled on the spot. Requiring numerous stitches on his collarbone, his parents openly said what the boy had been suspecting for years, he didn't fit in with the family and was going to live with his grandparents in rural Wales. This was when he first withdrew into his shell, hating the movement across the UK.
The thing that brought him out of his shell was one of his grandfather's horses. His grandfather was a bit of a small time dealer and trainer, taking in problem horses and finding an abundance of local lads to help school them on and then sell them for double what he paid. One of these such horses was Arwyrain chan 'r Nos Amsera, a rough translation of Rise of the Night Time. The gelding had ended up with Ed's grandfather due to his typical stallion tendencies, but because of the ex-racehorse's amazing bloodlines, no one wanted him gelded. When his grandmother saw the change that came across Ed as he came back into the 'real world', the tiny woman persuaded her husband to give the boy the horse, which he eventually did.
With his gelding beside him, Ed returned to England to do a course in Equine Management, realizing he finally had an aim in life - to work with horses. Spending two years on the course, he learnt a lot and left with a certificate in hand. The now 20 year old found a few jobs on various stud farms and yards as a groom, but his resentful view on authority left him unsuited to the job. Looking to climb a little further up the career ladder, he noticed the position of a barn manager at Park Equine College and jumped at the chance.
MISC.: Has a jagged scar running from below his neck to his left shoulder, following the line of his collarbone. Ed also has one tattoo, on the inside of his wrist of this, which is a work of art by graffiti artist Banksy. It is positioned so that if you were looking at his right palm face up, the balloon is floating towards his thumb. His second tattoo is the words "maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year" in a snake bracelet style around his left wrist.
Coch Andras (Red Devil in Welsh) is a two year old Rottweiler cross Doberman that Ed brought as a young puppy at the end of his first year in college. Coch has been with him since, and the large dog is fiercely protective of his master, and can be aggressive around strangers - although she will instantly lay down if asked by Ed. Once she is told that someone is okay, she changes completely and is a fun loving, tongue lolling, mad girl.
