Bella had been cleaning her room for the last three hours. Well, basically since Kian had gone to the barns to work the horses. She had lost count of the hours since then, so three had been a rough guess for her. Hunter and Samson watched her in fascination, the two Retrievers so absorbed in what she was doing, that their heads turned every time she walked past them. To Bella, everything was unclean or had a small layer of dust on it. Her lower back ached and she had slight bouts of nausea washing over her. Sitting down on the bed, she caught an image of herself in the mirror. Her baby bump was now the main feature, her feet not visible to her any more. They were also swollen and for a moment, she just took a moment to breathe. It was still a month before Carys was to be born, so there was no rush to move into the apartment that Dafydd had organised for them. They had started the nursery and had slowly been moving in their belongings since then. Bella had asked Harad to help with baby names, and they had finally decided on Carys. When she had decided on telling Kian, nothing had prepared her for the reaction she got. It was cold, distant. Seven months in when that happened and she hoped that she would never see such a reaction ever again.
Cradling the bump, she shifted uncomfortably. Despite everything she and Kian had gone through already, she didn’t want to worry him. The premature contractions had given to weekly doctor’s appointments, an increasing medical bill and her father who still didn’t know anything. She would have to tell, especially when he started reading what all the medical bills were for. Thank heavens for her medical aid at that moment in time. If she didn’t tell him, it would lead to a whole lot of heart ache for both her and her father. After her parents had divorced, she felt as if she couldn’t trust her father, who had married a mere month after the papers were signed. In Bella’s opinion, his new wife was a bitch and someone who was only marrying him for money. As soon as she had met the woman, she had thought that, and no matter what Andrew said, she wouldn’t change her opinion soon. For all respects Dafydd was her father more than that man would ever be.
It was Dafydd that had arranged the staff apartment. Bella didn’t doubt that something would happen before they could call the apartment home. There was always something that happened. Life was never simple. Not when it came to her and Kian. She also didn’t doubt that she would receive a visit from Kian’s father. Bryn knew everything when it came to Kian and as much as she hated him, he had made sure that she never forgot him. Not that she could forget the Bryn. He was like the Devil himself and no one forgot the Devil.
Reaching for her phone, Bella quickly dialled Kian’s number. She growled when he didn’t answer, and so just sent him a text. “It’s time. Xxx” she sent to him, and hoped that he would get it in time. Her contractions had started yet, so it was merely the beginning of what would be a long process.
