Angharad had an extra swing in her step as she made her way through town. Ieuan rolled his eyes beside her, but didn’t comment on her behaviour. Both were starting new jobs today, Harad at the swimming pool as a life guard and Ieuan in the new nightclub, Phoenix. Of course, Ieuan would escort her right to the door of the pool. Harad, once again, didn’t complain about the over protective behaviour. She knew that the boys, and even Ruthie and Clary, were more protective of her after the rape. She couldn’t blame them, and was thankful of their protectiveness. Though she put on a brave face, she was still pretty terrified about going out of the college. Unless she had an escort of course.
Not five minutes later did they find themselves outside the pool. Ieuan stopped her before she could escape into the building, narrowing his eyes slightly. ”What do you do when you finish your shift?” He asked, looking at her imploringly. ”Call Kian, Andrew or Clary to come pick me up.” She recited back mechanically, rolling her eyes. ”I’ve got it Ieuan, I’ll see you tomorrow. Have fun on your first day.” She waved him off, smiling at him crookedly, before slipping through the entrance and grinning at the receptionists. ”Angharad Landeg, reporting for duty!” She saluted them, causing both of them to chuckle. They then directed her to the changing rooms so that she could put on her uniform and then told her that another lifeguard would tell her what to do for the day.
Harad, now changed and briefed on her duties, walked slowly around the edge of the fun pool. Children and teenagers from the college were dotted around said pool, talking and playing, obviously having a whale of the time. She grinned as she heard two little girls giggling on their way down the slide, and then frowned when she heard wolf whistles from the other side of the pool. A group of rowdy males were looking in her direction, obviously leering at her. She glanced down at herself, not really seeing what was so special about the red shorts and white vest, which were obviously hiding a bikini, but it was enough to capture the males’ attentions. Choosing to ignore them, she continued to pace the pool slowly, pointedly not looking in their direction. She was more than a little relieved when she heard an older lifeguard telling them off though. Their cat calls died down, but she could still feel their eyes on her.
