Flier parked his beat up truck in front of the pub he had become so used to seeing and living in. The boss had helped him to get clean, the drugs still a fresh memory. Getting out, he took a deep breath, and suddenly he couldn't go back into the pub. He had left almost a month ago, leaving Lace in Jade's care. It had killed him to leave, but he had needed time to sort through his feelings for Jade and life after drugs. He still wasn't effectively working again, not giving Jade the chance to give his job back. It would have helped, but he had come back for Jade and Lace, not the job or the money.
Sighing, he entered the busy pub, and looked around for the one occupant he wanted to see the most. He saw her, and like always, the sight of her took his breath away. The hair, the work ethic and most of all, the person he knew behind the work. He walked up to the counter, looking better than he ever had. The gauntness in his cheeks was gone, his eyes were bright and not the usual dull grey that they had been. His muscles had filled out, and over all, he looked good. That is, he was hoping to still have his looks when Jade finally noticed that he was back.

Jade was undoubtedly dressed to kill that evening. Slipping her feet into her black heels, she smirked at herself in the mirror. There was no way she wasn’t getting some tonight. Ignoring the lack of sparkle in her eyes, which she usually did get at the prospect of getting laid, she whistled for Stitch to take down into the bar. The black haired beauty winced when she heard the extra set of paws galloping toward her along with Stitch. Casting a glance at Lace, Jade mentally cursed herself as tears formed in her eyes. Wiping them away furiously, she smiled at the two dogs. ”Come on then babies, work time.” She cooed softly, opening the front door and descending the stairs into the pub. It never took long for the olive skinned vixen to generate attention, wandering eyes drifting to her bare midriff or exploring the expanse of revealed leg that her high waist shorts and heels highlighted. An extra sway was thrown into her hips as she tried to forget the void she was trying to fill, indulging those who were interested with sexy smirks and innocently surprised noises as curious hands explored her exposed skin boldly. Kian and Caleb, the two barmen working for her tonight, stayed completely out of her way. They hadn’t seen her on the prowl for a while; she was usually shouting or snapping at people. They didn’t want her to revert back to that, so they left her do their thing. No matter how much they disapproved of it. Yeah, her young barmen had hell of a protective side. She knew they were keeping an eye on her, or more the men and women she was socialising with. They’d be quick to throw them out. Jade stiffened immediately when she felt his presence in the pub. Her breathing increased as a familiar aura surrounded her, causing her to pale slightly. She was currently stood behind the bar, serving a regular whom she’d grown fond of since owning the White Horse. The man immediately noticed the change and looked at her with concern. ”You alright love?” he asked her quietly, glancing around to see what may have affected his favourite pub landlady. Jade shook her head to clear it, flashing the man a bright smile. ”Fine John, just remembering how much someone is unwanted around here.” Still smiling at the man, she made it obvious to Flier, whom she still had not looked at, that he was unwelcome. Handing John his pint, she then decided to do the most mature thing she could think of. Ignore Flier. The lithe female slipped from behind the bar, still having not looked at Flier, and made her way over to where two women were looking at her lustfully. Smirking at them with renewed need, she placed herself delicately between them. Immediately she felt one hand on her upper thigh, causing Jade to raise an amused brow at the blonde that did it. The woman rose a brow back before hearing the other woman, a red head, whisper in her ear. Jade didn’t hear her though, her gaze had accidently fallen on Flier. Her breathing became a little more rapid, her eyes taking in his much healthier form. The feelings she’d been trying to ignore broke down all her barriers, but as well as that, Anger flashed dangerously in her orbs. She made sure he saw it before turning her attention back to the two women, flat out refusing to respond to the urges to go over to him.

Flier couldn't help but feel hurt when Jade just ignored him. He didn't show it, but inside his heart was breaking. His whole life he had been fighting his own demons, and now when he had someone in his life, he found it difficult to share his demons. What he told Jade was only the tip of the iceberg. There was so much more that he kept to himself, that he dreamt of in the evenings, that taunted him when he least expected it. He ordered the usual pint from Caleb, meeting the icy glare head on. So what if he wasn't welcome, he was still a paying customer. He gave across his money, and watched Jade as she made her way to a table. A low growl formed in his throat, a possessive growl, and his eyes flashed dangerously.
He kept watching her, his mind racing with lust and thoughts from the outfit she was wearing. This was the one thing that he had missed. Naturally he had missed Lace, but Jade had wormed her way into his heart and stayed there. Now she wanted nothing to do with him and he hated it. He hated that he had to leave, to get rid of the last poisons in his mind. Flier was a somewhat changed person, and there wasn't much he could do about the parts that hadn't changed. He wasn't the player any more. He didn't care about the one night stands or the lays. He cared about Jade, who obviously hating him right now.
He saw the anger in her eyes. He felt it pierce his soul and break his heart. Swallowing the last of his beer, Flier proceeded to go to her flat. After all, his dog was still there. He made his location quite known to her, proceeding into the back and up the stairs. Hunting down his key, he put it in and growled when he discovered that she had indeed gone and changed the locks. Calling to Lace, he heard her frantic barking and scratching at the door. He placed himself on the stairs in front of the door and waited for Jade to make her way upstairs.

Out the corner of her eye, she saw Flier heading for the flat. A small grin of achievement pulled at her lips when she thought of his reaction to her changing the locks. Relishing in the thought, she gave a soft, forced moan when she felt the red head’s lips on her neck. Allowing the woman to suck a small love bite there, again mostly to spite Flier, she got up once the red head was happy with her handiwork. ”Sorry ladies. But I’ve got business to attend to. ” Ignoring their pleas for her to return, Jade sauntered slowly over to the stairs and began to climb them at a purposely slow speed. It was only when she got half way up she realised that she would be in a fairly enclosed space with Flier until she could unlock the door. Her eyes widened slightly before she removed all traces of panic and looked up at him. Her heart throbbed painfully as she got a proper look at him. He looked so much better than he did before he left. Unless you knew him as well as Jade did, you could never tell that he’d been a drug user up until a month and a half ago. Whimpering softly in the back of her throat, she averted her gaze and fumbled for the keys. Still ignoring him, she brushed past him and unlocked the door. Allowing Lace to launch her greeting on Flier, she slipped into the flat and headed for the living room in search of cigarettes. She damn well needed one right now.

Flier watched her as she came up the stairs with her deliberate slowness. It didn't annoy him, it meant that he could talk to her without the pun crowd watching them. It meant privacy. It meant that if he had left with wounded pride, there wouldn't be any to see him receive it. He couldn't think straight, he just stood up when she came closer. His eyes flashed again when he saw the love bite on her neck and pressed down the roaring need to claim her as his again. Flier caught the whiff of perfume from her, and he breathed it in deeply. The scent made his voice catch in his throat, memories, good ones, accosting him suddenly. These he wished to remember and he did.
Flier observed her without trouble and as the door opened, Lace knocked him back down. The Kerry Blue Terrier licked his face, gave a loud bark and promptly lay down in his lap. Flier petted her absent-mindedly, realising that he had to talk to Jade. Getting up, he made his way to the living room, standing in the door and watching her. I'm sorry I left without saying anything, he started, knowing that he just wanted her to listen to him, nothing more or less. I needed to clear my head. I'm sorry Jade, he said, pleading in his voice. Her forgiveness meant more to him than anything and even if she wanted him to leave he wouldn't be able to until he heard her say that she forgives him.
Jade, I was an idiot and a fool, he carried on, getting a bit desperate. Why he cared about Jade so much, he didn't know. He couldn't answer that question before and he couldn't do so now. There was just something about the female that made his heart beat faster, his breath catch in his throat, eyes sparkle and want to be around her every single minute of every single day. I missed you, he said finally, and knowing what came next he took a deep breath and told her. I love you Jade. I love you more than I can ever imagine. I have loved you since I started working at the Pub and when you saved me, he rambled on slightly longer than necessary, but there wasn't a lot that he could say.

Jade refused to turn and look at him while he spoke, knowing one glance would make her forgive him immediately. Instead, she stubbornly faced away from him, her shoulders tensing with anger the further he went on. Walking deeper into the flat, she continued her search for the cigarettes, flinching slightly when she heard the pleading in his vocals. Taking deep breaths to remain calm, she continued her hunt. Purposely ignoring the tremor in her hands as she did so. It was his last ramble that made her snap. She’d just found her cigarettes, but her hand had now tightened into a fist around them as he spoke. Whirling around to glare at him, her eyes black with anger and disgust. ”I hate you,” She spat out, stalking toward him and poking him harshly in the chest. ”I hate you for making me lose my trust in you,” She snarled, backing him up into the nearest wall. ”I hate you because you made me feel things I never wanted, or needed to feel.” Her fury grew with each sentence. ”I hate you for making me give up the lifestyle that was easy for me. Comfortable.” She hissed, her expression curled into one of disgust. ”And most of all, I hate you for making me fall in love with you.” Her anger grew impossibly higher, the words spat out with raw hurt. She backed away from him, turning her back on him again and making her way over to the French doors that opened up onto a small balcony. Grabbing her lighter off the counter, she threw open the doors and gulped in the air greedily as she stepped out. ”Leave Flier.” She told him emotionlessly, her shoulders slumping. Still she did not turn to look at him, just made her vocals loud enough for him to hear. Pulling out the cigarette and lighting it, she pulled on it hungrily, exhaling the smoke slowly. She felt emotionally drained after her outburst, unable to stop the steady flow of tears that rolled down her cheeks. She ignored them, unable to work up the energy to wipe them away.

Flier waited for her to speak, but when she did, he wished he hadn't even done that. He should have just left when he was done speaking. Take Lace and leave for good, but he couldn't do that. He loved her too much. It was a feeling that had only come once to him, but then it had been in his teenage adolescence and didn't really count. His shoulders slumped slightly as he was backed into a wall, and he tried his best not to let a smirk cross his face. It seemed to have succeeded, but he listened to her. She loved him, that was the best confession, and worst, that he had heard in a while. She hated what she was feeling for him, and it was his own fault. He should have told her that he was leaving, but there wasn't time for regrets. Life was short, broken into fragments for him and he only had Jade to help him glue it back together.
He let her go outside, but it was more of a time for him to gather his thoughts. He saw her shoulder shake slightly as she was crying, her say those dreaded words. Flier was bold enough to approach her. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him, giving her no escape route. Don't make me leave again baby. I can't stand being away from you, he whispered into her ear, his vocals hoarse and broken. His eyes were still filled with pain, but he couldn't be away from her any more. Somehow he knew that he wouldn't be leaving again, even if he went back to his apartment, he would still be a regular at the pub, not to remind Jade, but to make her trust him again.

She growled as soon as she felt his arms around her, her eyes darkening with anger. His words made her stiffen, her fists clenching. ”Let. Me. Go.” She hissed, prying his arms off her and stepping out of his hold. It was only when she turned to see the pain in his eyes did she finally stop. Her heart felt like it was being torn from her and returning to his hold again. Closing her eyes tightly, she then winced as she felt her fingertips being burned. Dropping the cigarette, she crushed it underfoot and walked past him. She couldn’t look at him again, knowing that she would forgive him instantly if she did so. Heading into the kitchen, she turned on the tap and waited for it to run cold before putting her hand under it, to ease the burn from the cigarette. ”Please, just leave me alone Flier. I don’t want to see you anymore. Not while I can’t trust you.” Her vocals were exhausted, and she still did not look at him. Right now, she both loved and hated him. It physically hurt her to feel such two strong, conflicting emotions. Her stomach churned, and she knew that she’d gone pale. Turning off the tap, she allowed herself to slide slowly onto the ground and she pulled her knees tight to her chest. Rocking back and forth gently, she whimpered softly in the back of her throat. ”Please go. I’m begging you.” She begged Flier, her tears returning in full force. Ducking her gaze so that he can’t see her, she tried to get a hold of herself. So far, she was failing miserably.

Flier didn't know what to do. One half, his junkie half, and also the half that he wished he could get rid of, told him to do what Jade wanted and that was leave, but he couldn't leave. He couldn't bring himself to turn around again and go. There was a reason he had disappeared when he knew she was not going to be in the bar or apartment, and that was because once he saw her, he would have stayed. He would have been kept back at compulsion to be around Jade, and he wouldn't say that he hated it, but he also couldn't bring himself to say that he loved having Jade control him the way she did. Yes, he loved her. He loved her more than he had Kelly. Kelly. The girl who first stole his heart and introduced him to a drug infested haze.
Following her into the kitchen he recoiled from each of her words. It was his own fault that Jade couldn't trust him, but he broke inside when he saw the sight on the floor. He had done that. It was his fault. Some strains of anger was still inside of him and they demanded release. For a terrifying moment, he felt the urge to beat Jade into forgiving him, and he took a step back. When he was sure that he could actually touch her without hurting her, he went back to her and sat down next to her. He gathered the rocking bundle into his lap and hushed her.
It was an act of tenderness, and he couldn't help it. He wiped away her tears for her, and kissed the top of her head. I'm so sorry Jade. I can't leave you. It hurts too much. I don't want to leave you and I promise you that I'll never leave you again. I'm here for good baby.
