PLAYBY: Talulah Riley
FULL NAME: Angharad Elen Landeg
NICKNAMES: Harad
AGE: Sixteen
GENDER: Female
ETHNICITY: Welsh
STUDENT OR STAFF: Student
HALL: Ashton
PERSONALITY: Angharad is a defensive female. She is always out to protect herself and it’s rare for her to allow anyone to help her. But, then again, how she was brought up it was absolutely necessary to care for herself and stay out of trouble as much as she could. She kept her head down and avoided other people like the plague. She didn’t need their questioning about the new cast or the cut on her forehead. Nor did she want the enquiries about her infamous father. It’s easier for her to stay out of the limelight and remain in the shadows.
She’s definitely the suffer in silence type. If she has a problem, she’ll keep it all to herself and let it explode in its own time. Usually it occurred at the stables, with the company of a horse. She hasn’t ever had a friend to turn to when feeling down, and without her mother around any longer she didn’t even have her to confide in. She has been known to completely shut down on occasions and not respond to anyone. This has happened in lessons, around school and within her home. People usually leave her alone when she does this, except her father. He would usually beat it out of her.
When you get to know Harad, you get to see how sweet she really is. She just has so many defences that nobody ever really gets to see the real her. She is fairly sarcastic, and can throw out insults very quickly. Occasionally, she had become a little too cocky and stood up to her father. Though she regretted it afterwards, there was no doubt that she was proud of making him pause momentarily. She’s also very caring, and in honesty craves the friendships she’s deprived herself of. She has a suppressed mischievous side that itches to get out on occasions, but she’s never been able to fulfil her need to do so.
Though she doesn’t want to show her weaknesses, Angharad is a fairly nervous person. She cannot handle raised voices and violence, and tends to flee if it gets too much. She’ll cower in the corner if she cannot escape, and wait for the conflict to pass. She seems to handle it a lot better if it’s directed at her and her alone. Probably because she’s been dealing with it for so many years. It’s the shouting she really can’t take, and seeing others hurt.
BACKGROUND: Harad had always known that she was a mistake. Her father had accidentally knocked up some random girl in town, not the first but one that her father actually kept around for a while. Once Angharad was born, her father found a home to keep herself and her mother in and out of the public eye. It was no secret that Angharad’s father had a crime empire within Pembrokeshire. It was known by the girl that she was to be kept a secret and that her father had another family. He was an abusive man. Hitting her mother whenever he saw her, even if she did the smallest thing wrong. The abuse soon moved onto Angharad, but being the suffer in silence type Harad didn’t protest. She took it, even standing in front of her mother to protect her. You could never call the petite female a coward.
At eleven, Angharad had returned from school one day to see her mother gone and all her possessions boxed up. Her father stood there with a big grin on his face and announced that they were moving. When she’d asked where her mother was, he’d smirked and informed her that she no longer needed to worry about her mother. Dread settled in her stomach and it became a permanent feature. Every day she’d come home to a beating, and then have to fend herself from the strange men that frequented through her fathers’ home. Business associates apparently. All Harad knew was that they had wandering hands and eyes and no sense of boundaries. She’d taken to locking herself in the attic as long as there were strangers within her house.
School wasn’t something Harad really enjoyed. She tended to keep her head to avoid the curious look of her peers and teachers. They knew who she was. Everybody did. She worked hard on hiding the bruises and cuts that her father caused her, so suspicions stayed at a minimal level. She hadn’t ever really had friends, she didn’t have the desire to gain them. She was a loner if you will, and with her defensive nature nobody ever really wanted to break down her walls and attempt to gain her friendship. She did well in her lessons, mostly due to the fact that there was little more than studying that she could do, and had almost perfect attendance.
A little haven she did have was the stables. Like her half brother, she had a keen interest in horses. Unlike him, she’s been able to keep up the hobby due to the fact that she hasn’t been in and out of prison. Yeah, she knew all about Kian’s antics, even when he had no idea that she existed. She’d escape to the stables at the end of their road as often as she could. Her father was happy to have her out of the way, but did often get frustrated as she’d remain there most of the day. He’d then take it out on her when she eventually arrived home, causing many trips to casualty at his brutal hands.
Three days ago, Angharad found out that her half brother was now residing in Park Equine college. Two days ago, Angharad’s father broke her wrist for eaves dropping on his conversations. One day ago, Angharad had her wrist plastered under the supervision of her usual doctor. The man was paid by her father to keep quiet about all of her injuries. There were so many that the hospital had become a second home to her. Today? She arrives at the college in hopes to find refuge under the care of her half brother. She has no idea how he’ll react to her being there, she just wants enough time to explain herself and then let him make his judgement.
MISC.: HOPE. Hope is a pomeranian puppy bought as a present for Harad by Andrew Black. She's a little over fifteen weeks and a lovely creamy brown colour. She seems to be quite yappy, as many small dogs are, and protective over her new mistress. She prefers female company to male, and has been seen to snap every now and then at Harad's various male friends. She's going to be a bugger, that's for sure.
