Tucked in the crook between the radiator and the bookshelf, Niall Back gave a deep sigh of contentment. There was nothing more soothing than the peaceful atmosphere of a library. The room was large and airy enough not to make him feel claustrophobic in the slightest, and he fit comfortably in the crook he'd claimed not long after arriving at the academy. There weren't many people who bothered to find him here. Ruthie sometimes. Kian or Ieuan even less often. But more recently, he'd picked up the welcomed company of Amelia Howarth. The boisterous blonde female had managed to keep pestering him for friendship for a week before he gave in, and Niall couldn't deny that he liked her company. In fact, he loved it. With Ruthie so wrapped up with Jace, and the boys being so distracted by their respective partners, Niall had been feeling more than a little left out. Amelia had been a welcome distraction. The lithe male stretched out his legs and adjusted his posture to a much more comfortable position before rummaging around in his bag for his current literature obsession. Along Came A Spider by James Patterson. He'd also pulled out his math textbook, but it was left neglected at the side of him. He would get to that later.
Amelia's long locks where pulled up into a messy bun on top of her head, random trendles framing her pretty face. A friendly smile lit her features as she walked from her dorm to the library, greeting whoever she passed with a polite hello. Her arms were full of a bundle of fur in the shape of a large house rabbit. Sasquatch wriggled closer to his owner, seeking the warmth that her body had to offer. Amelia, noticing this, picked up her pace. Her book bag thumped against her outer thigh rhythmically, various stationary and other items rattling around in it loudly. In no time, she found herself in the warmth of the main building, her feet automatically following the familiar route to the library. Since becoming friends with Niall Bach, she spent a lot of time there. Just because she knew it was either here or the stables that he'd willingly be found. If anywhere else, he'd rather be left alone. Amelia may be quite forward in her manners, but she did respect others boundaries. As she entered the library, she shot a grin at the librarian sat behind the desk a cheeky grin. The woman had instantly noticed Sasquatch in her arms, and was tsk'ing unhappily. She'd realized long ago though, that wherever Amelia went Sasquatch went to. The library was no exception. Rolling her eyes at the young students antics, the librarian waved her on with a huff.
Niall looked up when he heard the familiar thump of a bag landing not far away, followed by an even more recognizable 'ooft' as Amelia dumped herself unceremoniously onto the floor. Niall chuckled at the scene, noticing that everything that had previously been sat inside her bag was now sprawled all over the floor. "I wondered how long it would take for you to turn up to annoy me." Niall told her with a genuinely happy grin, which his blonde companion matched radiantly. "Awh, don't be like that Niall! You know you love my company." she teased him, letting Sasquatch free from her arms and allowing him to bound over to greet Niall. "I still have no idea why." he retorted, placing down his book long enough to pick up the demanding rabbit. "Are you actually going to get some work done today? I know we have math to do." he asked her, placing Sasquatch onto his legs before putting a bookmark in his book and exchanging it for his textbook. He looked up just in time to catch Amelia's dismissive wave. "I'll give it a go. But no promises."
She had given up after fifteen minutes. Now sprawled out on her stomach, with Sasquatch perched comfortably on her back and his fore paws and head resting on her own, she was in the process of ripping apart her eraser. "What are you doing with that?" Niall asked, not even having to look up from the equation he was working on furiously. "You'll see." she replied in a sing song voice, causing him to raise a brow in response and look up briefly. Amelia just tapped her nose and went back to her destructive work. A couple of minutes later, Niall felt the slight spring of his curls moving. His nose scrunched up in confusion, but he continued on with his work. Amelia giggled in delight when Niall barely reacted, and picked up another of her eraser cuttings and threw it at his head. It landed neatly within one of his curls, causing her to giggle again. Just as she was throwing a third, he looked up suddenly. The eraser bounced directly off the middle of his forehead, causing Amelia's giggles to increase at his surprised expression. "I really should have guessed." he mumbled in reply, shaking his head vigorously to dislodge eraser pieces. Stupidly going back to his work without taking the eraser bits from Amelia, he was concentrating hard enough to not even notice the next four pieces launched at him. Now this is much more fun than homework! Amelia thought gleefully, throwing another piece into Niall's hair.
