PLAYBY: Ian Somerhalder
FULL NAME: Nathan Flier Graham
NICKNAMES: Flier; Nate
AGE: 24
GENDER: Male
ETHNICITY: Australian/British mutt
JOB: Barman: The White Horse
RESIDENTIAL AREA: Birch Row
PERSONALITY: Despite his somewhat evil looks, Flier is actually a pretty cool guy. He wouldn't exactly call his look evil, but smoldering. and it sure drives the ladies up the wall. He is always looking for the one, but enjoys playing around during the search. He isn't so fussy about who it is, but more about if they can provide him with a good time without any attachment afterwards.
Flier is actually a pretty messed up individual, who prefers keeping his past a secret. The only thing that he does say is that his family is dead to him, and he keeps it at that. No matter how much one tries to coax it out of him, he won't ever say much more than that. He closes up like an oyster, his secret is his pearl. Flier does prefer his second name, Nathan or Nate being to formal for him, but he will answer to it. He does have his pride and this comes through a lot in his actions.
Flier does prefer to keep to himself and a guitar, but is a natural performer and does so at request of his friends. He can be quite a sociable creature when he feels like it and can party with the best when given the chance. It doesn't happen often though, and he is a funny drunk. There is small problem with Flier and that is that he is addicted to cocaine. Not hectically, but he does need his daily fix, usually after work or a really long day. He hides it really well though, and he has tried to kick the habit various times without success. Once on a high, his anger also comes out, and this isn't a pretty sight. He does try to contain the damage to one room, but most of his paycheck ends up going to replacing damaged goods. Not even Lace can keep the male calm, and usually retreats to a far corner of a room. Even on a high, Flier would never harm his pets.
BACKGROUND:
Flier was born to a middle class family, the youngest of two, growing up in central London. His sister is almost eight years his senior, so they weren't ever really close. His parents doted on Alice, not so much him. He was the mistake, the one that was never supposed to be and he was reminded of this daily during his eighteen years with his parents. His father an in closet alcoholic, and guess who it was taken out on. Flier went to the A&E almost weekly with some new injury from the age of six on. His parents blamed it on him being such an active child, climbing trees and the like. The doctors seem to know what was actually going on, but Flier just said that he was clumsy and they had to accept that.
He was eight when he was first molested. Flier's dad was a bastard towards him, and the young boy lost all hope in the world. He dreamed of being a superhero, saving children in the same situation as him. It was just a dream, and he would be dragged out from under his bed for more torture and abuse. His mother just watched and laughed it off. The one day, the day after his tenth birthday, Flier was admitted to the A&E once more. A fractured wrist, slight concussion and two broken ribs. In a moment alone with the doctor, he split everything. His father had beat the living crap out of him. Social workers jumped in and took him out of his old life. The damage had been done though.
In his foster home, Flier thrived, but was damaged beyond belief. It took five years before he fell into the wrong crowd, but he acted up, disrespected elders, destroyed property etc. He found out quickly that being a bad boy gave him certain...pleasures. Aged 16 he fell out of high school, ran away from his foster home and ended up working in pubs and bars, singing when he could, enjoying the life. He first tested with cocaine at 17, but it was more of a casual drug then, than him being addicted now. He basically settled in Hertfordshire six months ago, and has been making a living from his meager savings and paying jobs.
MISC.:
LACE: Lace is a three year old Kerry Blue Terrier. She was discovered in an animal shelter and is quite a friendly creature. She does know when Flier is in need of her comfort, and is quite a suck up to him. Slightly protective, but cute, is how one would describe Lace. She is also about as much responsibility that Flier can handle.
