When you imagine a garage shop, you don't often imagine slim sixteen year old blonds stading in the middle of them, but today, in Joe's Garage, that was exactly the case, the blond sixteen year old being one Melissa Whitcombe-Bass. She strolled throught the shop, her startingly multi-colored eyes flicking around in search of her Uncle. Well, not her "real" Uncle. Hayden was the brother of her adoptive father, Jay, so that made him her uncle. Her very entertaining uncle, and ever since he'd gotten busy with the job and she'd gotten busy with her riding and schooling, their relationship had slowed to almost nothing. Until today. She planned on fixing that today.
She spotted him leaned over a desk, observing something on the surface. With a smile to herself, she padded toward him, the rubber soles of her paint-flecked converse making such a small sound that the noises further in the workshop drowned them out. Lissa leaned up and slipped her hands over the eyes of her much taller uncle, smiling as she sang out, "I do believe I have found you, good sir, which make you my slave for your break hour." Then, she took away her hands and give Hayden a hug. "Salutations, Uncle!" Even though Hayden was barely older than she, Melissa insisted upon calling him Uncle. She didn't know why, it was just something she liked to do. "It's been some time since we've seen each other." She told him seriously as she pulled away from the embrace, her normally playful glint rather in the background. "I think we have much to catch up on. Would you join me for lunch at Milly's? We could walk there from here."
They did have much to catch on, like Melissa's riding, Hayden's dogs, the horses in general, and how in the world Lissa was going to break to Jay that she now had a boyfriend. Spencer would be fine with it, but Jay was another matter entirely, and after knowing the boy for nearly three years, Melissa still was sure on how to go about breaking the news to him without the Australian taking knife in hand and searching Josh out to threaten him. Or a gun. A gun would be worse, she supposed.

Hayden was bored. There was no doubt about it. With hardly any work coming in, due to the fact that pretty much everyone was on holiday due to the summer holiday, there was only need for one mechanic to be in a day. Of course, Joe was also here every day but today Hayden didn't have Libby to distract him. Staring at the paperwork he'd completed about ten minutes ago on the desk, he huffed in frustration. Before he could give up and go break something, just so he'd have something to fix, two hands clamped down over his eyes. His brows rose in surprise, but then found a grin breaking out across his face as he registered the voice. Turning to meet her hug enthusiastically, he chuckled at the blonde female. Unable to get a word in until she finished, he waited patiently before hugging her tightly again. "It's good to see you again Lissa, it has been way too long." he told her, as equally serious as she had been. "I'd be honored to accompany you to Milly's." he beamed at her. "Just give me a second, i'll tell Joe i'm going. I need to get out of this place before I destroy something out of boredom."
Hayden had been dismissed by Joe with nothing more than a wave of his hand. His boss was currently involved in an obviously tense Solitaire game on his computer. Now that he was free for the next hour or so, Hayden found himself almost running back to where Melissa was waiting for him. "Ready?" he asked, slipping his arm through hers and glancing down at his attire. The people in town were used to seeing Hayden in his work overalls, and he was sure that Melissa didn't care about being seen with him splattered in oil. Grinning happily at his niece, he tugged on her arm a little and led her from the garage, and taking off at a skip as they hit the sidewalk outside. "We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!" he exclaimed in a singsong voice, laughing carelessly as he and Melissa continued down the street.
Brooke Robinson watched with a spiteful sneer on her face as two people skipped past the front window of Fiona's. Coming up to her break, Brooke had been just about to leave to go and get lunch when she recognized the pair fly past. Melissa Whitcombe-Bass and Hayden Emeritz. With a distasteful scowl, the girl slipped from the store and followed the trail the pair had just left toward Milly's. She'd never liked Hayden, ever since the male had come back with Jay to Australia after meeting him at Blue Ridge. The rest of the Robinson brood had surprisingly welcomed him with opened arms. Brooklyn had not. She disliked that Jay now had an actual sibling, and had stopped referring to her as some kind of one. Sure, they were cousins. But that wasn't the same connection as a sibling one. In short, Brooke was jealous. Then, in steps the perfect Melissa. It was obvious to anyone that Brooke's cousin adored the strange blonde haired youngster. Brooke, herself, couldn't see the appeal. Yet, Jay was smitten. The jealousy just seared in Brooke's heart, she couldn't stand seeing Jay moon over anyone except herself. With a sharp shake of her head, A sly smirk slithered over her features. Deciding to take advantage of the pair alone, she made up her mind to do a little taunting of her own.
Hayden waved and smiled warmly at Milly, the diner's crazy owner, as he and Melissa slipped into an empty window booth. The Diner was surprisingly empty, though it was still relatively early. "Come on then little one, you have something to spill. I can see it in those pretty eyes of yours." Hayden said with amusement coating his words. It was obvious that the youngster had something she needed to share, the fact that she looked happier than he'd seen her in a while was evident of that. Even though Hayden didn't see her as often as he probably should, he seemed to be able to read the girl pretty well. He adored the girl almost as much as his brother did, though he was considerably less protective. His eyes lit up suddenly. "It's a boy isn't it? Am I r-." He was cut off suddenly by the sound of cold, vicious vocals coming from the right of him.
"Well, isn't this cozy!" she exclaimed in fake happiness, her features twisted into a cynical smirk. Hayden frowned at Brooke, his expression darkening slightly. Though he didn't hate the girl as she seemed to him, he didn't really like her. "The love child and the freak.. Wait, couldn't you both fit into either category?" she sneered. Her oracles narrowed as they locked with Melissa, recalling what Hayden had said before Brooke had interrupted. A harsh chime of laughter left her lips. "Her? A boyfriend? Not likely. She's too weird to have someone liking her. Nobody is that stupid." she smirked cruelly, before leaping back two steps in surprise as Hayden's fist slammed onto the table. Standing to his full height, he glared at his brothers' cousin. "You have no right to say that to her Brooke, it's disgusting the way you are speaking to her. I would back off if I were you. Now." his tone was low and dangerous, his fists clenching and his oracles filled with anger. Melissa didn't deserve to be spoken to like that. Heck, nobody did. But especially not Melissa. Brooke just smirked, crossing her arms over her chest and resting her weight onto her right side. Her head tilted to the side slightly, her look becoming somewhat condescending. "Or what? You'll hit me? We both know you wouldn't do that. You're too much of a gentleman." Brooke answered, sneering the last word in disgust. The reaction for the male confirmed to her that she had the upper hand, and she loved it.

Melissa grinned up at her taller uncle, their arms entertwined as they started their way to Milly's, not expecting the lyrics to flow from him as easily as they came from her. She fell into skipping step beside him, her own young voice flowing out to mix with his. "We hear he is a wiz of a wiz, if ever a wiz there was! If ever oh ever a wiz there was, the Wizard of Oz is one because, because, because, because, because, because! Because of the wonderful things he does!"
As she finished the song with Hayden, they arrived at the restraunt. Melissa was laughing at them, making some vague comment about how Hayden would be a very nice Tin Man as they made their way over to a booth. She was still chuckling a little, then seemed to concentrate on something before looking up at Hayden. "Luminescence says that she missed you." The silver imaginary fox approved of Hayden immensely once she'd gotten used to him, and now gave every chance she got to greet the tall male. By now, everyone close to Melissa, and some of those who weren't knew about the fox. Except Josh. Melissa wasn't sure if she was quite ready for Josh to know about Luminescence. He might finally see her as crazy and drop her faster than a someone drops hot grease.
As her thoughts turned to Josh, a small smile came over Melissa's lips, her eyes starting to get a little brighter and dreamy. She didn't even know the look had come over her until Uncle mentioned it. "Oops. Sorry. I should be more careful with those thoughts. Shouldn't let them be so out in the open. But yes, I do have something to tell you." She bit her lip and figeted a little, unsure of how to present the topic to Hayden, but then he did it for her. Or he started to.
He eyes snapped up at the voice, and Luminescence snarled nastily. This one's a bitch. Lissa gave the silver creature a look, but then she focused on the female, noticing how Hayden tensed up a bit when the female had sauntered up to them, her and all her attitude. Melissa offered a friendly smile, but it was soon gone when the female opened her mouth again. See? Told you. May I bite her?
Melissa shushed Luminescence, starting to grow more and more irratated with this girl. She was insulting Uncle right in front of her... And then Brooke went too far. She insulted Josh. Luminescence all but spit at her, the fox crawling onto Melissa's shoulder.
"Excuse me, ma'am." Melissa stood, her once warm eyes turned icy. "I have no idea who the hell you think you are. I've never met you, and I think I would be a lot better off if I hadn't. But you're being extremely rude to Uncle, and I don't appreciate that. Please stop. And you're annoying Luminescence, which is not a wise idea. Trust me. As to the insults to myself... Well, you're obviously older than I am. Do you get pleasure from insulting teenagers who weren't bothering you for no reason?" Melissa's small figure was misleading, but the bristling air she gave off wasn't. The sixteen year old was pissed.
