Hands buried deep in his pockets of his coat, a smile graced his lips as he turned the corner away from the garage. Jay would have never of guessed that he would voluntarily visit Hayden's work place, not with all the oil and grease around, but he surprisingly found it a peaceful place to be. Plus, the company couldn't have been better. Unwilling to return to the academy just yet, aiming to miss all of his classes for the day, Jay decided to make a stop in Hooves and Tails. He needed to buy a new rug for Puzzle, and Question needed a new saddle pad. He would also pick up some treats for Sandy, just because she'd been almost perfect for the last two weeks. He honestly couldn't put a fault by her name. Shivering when a particularly rough gust of wind smacked into him, Jay's pace sped up as he sought out the warmth of the store he was heading for.
Hooves and Tails was empty, bar the older male who stood behind the cash register, when he entered. Grainy music sounded from the obviously old speakers dotted around the shop. Jay's lips pursed in disapproval of the music choice, but said nothing. Nodding his head slightly at the man, who just grunted in response and went back to reading his newspaper, Jay began to make his way leisurely to the rear of the store where the rugs were. His oracles swept over them critically, arms crossed over his chest as he rocked back on his heels. He conjured an image of Puzzle in his mind, then flickering back to the rugs on offer to see which colour would suit her best. The mare's last had been black, it had come with her when Jay had bought her, and looked just wrong on her. It didn't compliment her pretty colouring at all.
He finally settled on a light blue with navy edging around it. Slinging the rug over his shoulder, he moved along to the saddle pads which would be an even harder choice. Question, being just as vain as his rider, had an opinion about everything Jay put on him. The saddle pad would be no different. The last had unfortunately seen better days though, so they were in definite need of a new one. Adopting the same stance he had when looking over the rugs, he gave a deep breath through his nose at the thought of making another tough decision. His eyes passed over a garish bright yellow pad that was just foul, pausing on a forest green and noting it in the back of his mind, and along to a deep violet that would really catch eyes on his pretty gray steed. Scrunching his nose in annoyance, unable to make up his mind, Jay allowed himself to scan over the merchandise at a slower pace once again.
