Jasper led a few saddled up horses into the outdoor arena, namely the more beginner orientated ones. He knew that those that could already western were bringing their own mounts with the exception of Colbie. Each horse was tacked up already, but instead of split reins, had the joined reins used in barrel reins. Doug squealed as Creek decided to assert herself. Phoenix rolled her eyes and moved away, bumping into Jack who kicked out. Settle down you lot! Jasper scolded, and watched as the horses obeyed. The herd dynamics was hard to understand, but it was there. His own mount was Arrow, his quarter horse mare, and she was following behind needing no halter to follow her owner.
Though Coffee was now started under saddle, Jasper knew the mare was still flighty around people and other horses. This wasn't helped by the fact that Tea had been weaned and was with the other young horses in a separate pasture. Tying up the College horses, he caught Arrow and waited for the first of the students to arrive. The roan mare cocked her back hoof and started dozing off. Jasper allowed her, knowing that it would still be another 10 minutes to the first of the students arrived.

Callum grinned as he slowly made his way down to the outdoor arena. Today was to be his first lesson in Western - something he'd always had a level of interest in but had finally decided to try it to see what Jemma made all the fuss about. Really though, he couldn't wait to get started. He'd never tried Western riding at all before, but figured he'd at least be able to stay in the saddle and stuff from a lifetime of riding English, it would just be a case of learning to act and react differently.
Since he now only had King to occupy his time, and he didn't want to push the horse too fast, he'd gotten to know all the school horses fairly well, exercising and working with any that needed stuff doing. Through this he'd managed to get his eye on Jack, a bay overo gelding owned by the college. He knew the horse was being used for the class, and didn't currently have a rider assigned to him. Having groomed the Paint horse a couple of times recently, they were starting to get a beginning of a bond between them, and Callum was pretty desperate to ride Jack for the class. From what he'd gathered, none of the other horses that had needed to be prepared for the class would be large enough for his tall frame anyway.
Entering the arena, he dipped his head politely towards the teacher and offered a smile, marvelling at how far his confidence had grown over the past few years as he gave his name in soft vocals. He instinctively moved towards the horses, noticing he was the first to arrive, and settled on fussing over Jack after briefly stroking each of the other equines.

A brown head was thrown over a stable door coupled with an impatient neigh. "I'm coming, I'm coming" Katie muttered to the horse, seeing from the movement of the pony that she was calling. Her eyes flickered round, searching for her brother. She wanted him to come and translate today, for the Western class, putting the teacher's instructions into sign language so she didn't have to try and lip read whilst riding. The plain brown colouring of the equine head was deceptive though, and she couldn't help but smile as the temperament creature tried to shove her spotted body through the door way. Pointing at the mare, she grinned and nodded as Moon responded, moving backwards. Any horse that she had for more than a short while learnt her silent commands, after all, a horse in the wild doesn't need words. Slipping the tack on quickly, she breathed a sigh of relief as Moon decided she was going to be in a nice mood and started to nuzzle Katie. Jack appeared in the doorway too, asking if she was ready to go. Katie frowned in response, speaking in her unusual vocals. "You turn up late and then ask if I'm ready?" Her tone didn't hold any trace of anger, just the normal pitch and volume. Jack knew though, and his apology was clear in his face.
Shaking her head in despair at her brother, she followed after him with Moon's reins in her hand. She'd started to come out of her shell over the past month, relieved that she no one had turned up to take Toad, her other pony away from her yet. She observed as her brother went a few steps ahead and spoke quietly with the teacher, presumably explaining the situation. She gave a somewhat reserved yet polite smile when his gaze fell on her, before burying her hands in Moon's neck and thoroughly making much of the mare until the class started properly.
