The Dress Code
The Course
Ignore the red circles. Obstacle 4 and 10 are opening the gates. Fence 18 will be the last fence. The timed section is from just before 4 until just after 10. It is an optimum time section, the optimum time should be met by those going at a steady working canter pace.
The Judge
Mike himself was sat with his trusty clipboard in the little hedged box near fence five so that he could observe the timed section. He had several other helper placed around the course who would be writing comments and recording faults of the students who were trying out so that he could judge whether or not they made the team on their whole performance. His little plastic chair wobbled slightly and he moved it further back so that he was more sheltered by the two sides of the hedge around him. The walkie-talkie on his lap crackled into life to let him know that the first student was starting and a smile spread across his features as he dug the pen from his pocket.
The Dress Code
- Cross-Country colors/jersey
- Plain colored jodhpurs - pale or to match your colors
- Long or short riding boots
- Close contact or GP saddle
- Brushing boot/other protective boots
- Overreach/bell boots (optional)
- Jumping crop (optional)
