The scars of your love, they leave me breathless!
The seasons had changed, but it was hardly noticeable to Bella. The only thing that had changed in her life was the fact that she was feeling herself grow even more distant from Kian than they already were. Those two weeks of avoiding him had not helped, and when she had told him that she was pregnant, it was as if he was trying to distance himself from her, once again her fault, because she couldn't take control of her anger and emotions towards him. She regretted it, because she had been pushing away the people that cared about her the most. Now she had withdrawn into her shell again, not wanting to be around her friends or family.
It was around eleven in the evening when she made her way down to the broodmare barn. She hadn't been sleeping so well for the past week or so, and had been doing the barn routine for the same amount of time. If anybody found out then it was her neck on the line, because she had technically not been allowed horses. "Too dangerous" was what everybody was telling her, because apart from Danger and Manor, all her horses were slightly temperamental. The barn watch pig, Patrick, was quite used to her presence now, and Bella didn't need to switch on the barn lights to find Danger's stall. Her Converse trainers didn't make a sound on the concrete, her treads quiet as she didn't want to wake any of the mares.
Danger looked drowsy as Bella unlatched the stall door, but greeted her owner with a whiskery kiss. Hey baby, Bella whispered to her chestnut mare, and fondly scratched the mare's forehead. Luna yawned, and lifted herself to go demand some attention for herself. The little filly was about two and a half months old, about the same amount of time that Bella had been pregnant. Bella had taken one of Danger's winter blankets out of the tack box, and settled in the corner, just watching the mare and filly in the dark, not drowsy enough to fall asleep, but she was comfortable. Luna settled down next to Bella like a big dog. She absently played with the filly's mohawk like mane, just thinking about life in general.
