Ruthie had it on good authority that Kian was down at the stables. A place that he could easily avoid her if he so wished because she hadn't seen him around since she had arrived. He knew that she was around, because Ieuan couldn't stop laughing about it and Max had promptly informed her that they had seen him at the bar looking like he had seen a ghost. She had chosen to give him a few days to seek her out, and when that hadn't happened she had taken matters into her own hands. Hence the reason she was now striding towards the stable block when she really had no interest to be around horses. Ruthie paused when she reached the office. She glanced at a stabling list, found the stable numbers for Kian's horses.
Her Converse trainers hardly made a sound while she walked towards the stalls. Her face was a mask of no emotion but she knew what she was going when she saw him again. Scare the hell out of him and then be happy to see him. She wanted to know what he was planning with Bella and his child. She wanted to catch up with him, because frankly he had been quiet during his jail stint and there after it was in drips and drabs.
Here Kian Kian Kian, come out come out where ever you are, she called when she knew she was close enough to prevent him from running. She taunted him, teasing him, just as he had done when they were kids. I know you are here. Come out now and I might spare you the pain, she carried on, a satisfied smirk crossing her face. This was becoming fun, but she had approached one his stalls. A massive head came out of it, and caused Ruthie to jump in fright.
Damn these big horses. Gentle giant was an appropriate term, but not when it scared the daylights out of her. So she was scared of horses. With her accident it was easy to be. She had the scar on her leg to prove it where they had put in the pins. Damn it Kian! she almost shouted into the stall, but settled for loud. With one arm on her hip, she waited for Kian to finally appear.

Kian was a coward. He'd admit it himself, albeit reluctantly, and had been told by others often. Ieuan was extremely fond of calling him a coward, especially under the current circumstances in his life. Of course, Kian could also retaliate with the same insult to his best friend, but on this occasion he agreed whole heartedly with the other boy. Dafydd had also called him the same thing, although in nicer terms, as had Jonah. But, in his defense, there was a lot he had to deal with at once. It was obvious that the male couldn't handle it, yet more and more was piling up. It was getting to him, and he could see himself snapping. Again. Sighing deeply, the young male lowered himself carefully into the thick banking of shavings surrounding the walls of Awyr's stall. The large gelding peered curiously over his broad shoulder at his owner, his compassionate chocolate oracles flickering with concern. Kian gave him a gentle smile, which the Clydesdale took as encouragement to amble over to him. Settling his maw onto Kian's risen knees, his eyes dropped as the boy scratched distractedly between his audits, sighing contently as Kian's mind ran away with him. The fact that Ruthie and Niall had arrived had come as a surprise as him. Their arrival would have been pleasant in any other circumstances. No, scratch that, Ruthie's arrival would have been pleasant in more settled circumstances. Niall didn't bother him, the boy tended to keep to himself anyway. But Ruthie? Hell no. He knew the girl had expected Kian to go and find her, heck, everyone had. She was the only girl, before Bella crashed into his life, that he'd ever respected and genuinely cared for. She was the closest thing he had to a sister, and completely adored her. But Kian had had enough of being shouted at, berated and scolded for his actions. He knew he'd only get more from the blonde girl. So he simply chose to ignore her. Harder than it seemed. He'd taken to escaping to the barns as often as he could, only leaving to exercise Awyr and Fflam, grab food or to go into town to the bar. Luckily he'd only run into Ieuan and Max into the bar, no Ruthie as of yet. Apparently, he spoke too soon. Awyr's cranium shot up, narrowly missing Kian's nose, as female vocals rang through the barn. Kian groaned in dismay, listening closely too see how near her footfalls were. "Too close." he grumbled, knowing he couldn't escape. Awyr's head shot over the stall door as soon as Ruthie arrived at it, thankfully blocking her view from his owner. Kian chuckled slightly, enjoying the annoyed reaction from the girl. Rising from his space on the ground, he debated crouching behind his massive equine until she left, but decided against it. "I'm not coming out of the stall." he told her stubbornly, walking around to the neck of Awyr. Leaning against the geldings shoulder, Kian was granted a first glimpse of a much more grown up Ruthie as the brute moved his large cranium and returned it inside the stall. Kian's lips unconsciously pulled up into a warm smile at the sight of her, automatically pleased to see her even though he was undoubtedly about to get a telling off. "Long time, little one." he murmured affectionately, recalling the last time he'd been face to face with her. His expression darkened when he realized it was probably just before he was sent down the last time. Cringing at the memory, he refocused his attention on the girl and hung his head in shame. "Sorry I avoided you." he mumbled, refusing to look her in the eye. Now that he was with her, he regretted not seeing her earlier.

Kian probably didn't know that he had the upper hand by staying in the stall. Ruthie didn't know if he had heard about her accident a year ago and how it had happened, but she was perfectly annoyed at her irrational fear for the animals she loved. She was the one that used to back flip off horses on a dare or gallop where she wasn't supposed to. She heard his voice as he came around the giant brute. She took a good look at the grown up version of Kian, and quite frankly it shocked her. Her mouth popped open and she just stood there speechless. Her mind regained their senses, and she returned the smile. Well, not so little any more, she replied with a grin. So she had an odd relationship with Kian and Ieuan. They were like brothers to her and even though she had an older brother, well two, but Jean had passed away and she had gained two in his place.
I heard what you got yourself into, and the reactions from it. Dafydd is not too impressed, and if it wasn't for Max then Ieuan would have had your guts for garters a long time ago. Bella also seems to be taking this hard and then you have me who would do a lot worse than Ieuan if it wasn't for the fact that I hadn't seen you in so effing long, she said, with a glimmer of her known attitude in her eyes. She was still slightly nervous about being around that giant of a horse, and so pulled Kian to the center of the stable area where a grassy courtyard was maintained. Time changed people and it had done so to Kian. The last she could actually remember of him was his bad boy image and crime record. In front of her was a reformed soul with a lot of pain and anger directed at mostly himself.
So, apart from becoming a father and actually being in a serious relationship, what has been happening in your life? Ieuan isn't very elaborate, but I think that has to do more with Max than anything else, and Bella doesn't know enough about you to actually say what you have been thinking, she questioned, throwing in a little guilt trip just for the sake of seeing Kian squirm. Her own story could wait a while longer. Her scar on her leg was hidden by the pant leg of her black jeans which meant a slight delay in her side of the story. Now that she thought about it, the accident occurred about the same time that Dafydd transferred to Park, found out that he was going to be a father and Kian was spending his last few months in prison before being released. Ieuan was dealing with some or other drama, so she really couldn't blame any of them for not coming to see her during that six week stint in hospital ward.
