Kristin parked the truck outside the main building. Her luggage was in the boot, and two tired Labradors were fast asleep in the back seat. She had landed about an hour ago, and thanks to the airline putting her luggage on a different plane, she had to wait for that to arrive as well. She had consumed enough coffee in that hour to keep her awake for the next few hours, keeping the jet lag at bay. Jax and Luna had taken the flight well, and had slept all the way from the air port. Finding the college wasn't difficult, the road was pretty straight forward. After driving on the American roads for nearly two years, it took a few minutes for her to realise that she was home again, and the way to drive was different.
Knowing that she would be able to visit her parents soon was something she looked forward to, but the one thing she was looking forward to was seeing Dafydd again. He had left a few days prior, but she missed the conversation. After Jax, Kris thought that she would never be able to love someone again, and in her grief had escaped to the States. Who should she meet but Dafydd, and slowly the pain healed. Her mobile rang, indicating that something was already a miss. Hello? Kristin speak... she couldn't finish her sentence as an irate vet burst in. Something about Amor, and automatic waterer's. I'm sorry Mr. Lovall. I should have said that he needs a bucket. And that set the man off on another rant about responsibility.
After the conversation, Kristin was laughing. She couldn't wait for her horses to come to the College. Jason was the only one that wasn't arriving, as he was being competed by a rider that Kristin had coached a few years ago. Luna, Jax come on dogs, she called, and both raised sleepy heads. Opening the door, they jumped out, and plodded after her.
The office was welcoming, and a secretary looked at her. Hello love, can I help you? she asked in a motherly voice. It's okay. I want it to be a surprise, she whispered, pointing towards Dafydd's office. The older woman nodded, and Kristin walked towards the door, the dogs padding along quietly. She heard his voice, presumably on the phone, and knocked quietly. She didn't wait for a reply, and just walked in. A happy smile was already on her face, and she noted his reaction.

- - - - - - - - - - - -Dafydd sat in his office, lounging around not really doing anything constructive. Students were in class, so there wasn't any mayhem that he knew of going on. There was really nothing for him to do, other than play solitaire. Starting up his computer, he began to do just that. Cedar sat faithfully at his side, the canine had his head in his masters lap. Icey had taken up residence in the far corner of the office, sleeping quietly. He'd become much more relaxed into his old age, much like Dafydd himself. Glaring at the screen, he tried desperately to find a place to put a card, before growling in frustration. There was nowhere to put it. He caught himself from shouting angrily. Is this what you've really been reduced to? Shouting at your computer because you can't finish a game of solitaire? You really are bored. he mused to himself, sitting back in his chair once again. Growling to himself, which in turn made Cedar do the same thing, he stood up. Icey didn't even bother looking up, but the other dog stayed close to his owner. Leaving the office, he passed my his secretary and gave a strained smile. She just rolled her eyes, knowing that he was up to something. "No more coffee, that's why you're so restless." she scolded, then laughed when he pulled an expression that was meant to make him look like the picture of innocence. He carried on toward the coffee machine and absentmindedly began to make one, earning a tut from the secretary. Cedar sniffed the air appreciatively.
They made their way back to Dafydd's office, earning another disapproving look. His expression was pathetic when he heard the phone ringing inside. He should never be that excited about the phone ringing. Opening the door, he practically dived for the phone. The door swung shut with a bang just as he picked up the phone, causing both dogs and himself to jump. Regaining his composure, he sat in his chair and began to speak to the person on the other side of the phone. "Hello, Dafydd Rees. Oh, it's just you. Yeah Owain, I'm keeping an eye on him. I know he's freaking out." His voice became raised as he addressed his brother about Ieuan. His nephew had gone a little bit.. more off the rails than usual. His mind was more than messed up at the moment. Dafydd then lost his temper. "Well, I don't see you up here looking after him." he snapped, his hazel eyes darkening with anger. Just then, his office door swung open. He was about to shout at whoever it was, but then his jaw fell slack. Without saying goodbye, he slammed the phone down into the holder, knowing he'd have a lot of apologizing to do later, and stood up. He rushed around the side of the desk and pulled her into his arms. Placing a kiss on her lips, he then smiled into them. "I didn't think you were coming today." he accused softly, keeping her tight in his arms. He had missed her so dearly, Kristin was the one thing that really kept him sane. He'd never know he'd find love again after Jayden, but he had. And it came in the beautiful form of Kristin. "If you had said, I'd have come got you at the airport." He still hadn't let go of her, he wouldn't until she asked. Grinning like he was still a teenager, his eyes wouldn't leave her. Chuckling softly, he spoke again. "I've been around too much teenage angst already. It hasn't even been a week yet."

Anamused look crossed Kris's face as she saw him slam down the phone. She hadn't quite expected that much of a reaction. Luna decided to bunk down Icey and Jax just ambled into another spot of the office to sleep. Dafydd practically jumped out of the chair, like there was an electric wire attached to it, and made his way to her. Amusement played in her dark orbs, and she knew that by his manner that he was bored and that she had arrived just in time. He took her in his arms, and she wrapped her own around his waist. You know I love to surprise you, she said, and it was true. If I told you then I would have had to drag you away from your precious office, and I could never have done that to you, she added, acting as if she was deadly serious about the comment.
She raised an eyebrow when he talked about teenage angst. So the place was also filled with troublemakers, then again which school wasn't. Kris also knew that Ieuan was at the Academy, but what was behind that story would be asked later. Planting another kiss on his lips, Kristin looked over the dogs. Out like candles, she knew that she liked them like that. Right. So anything interesting happen in the week that we were horribly split and tortured beyond belief? she asked. It was catch up time now, unpack and settle later.
So we gonna walk to the seating or crab shuffle? she joked lightly. It seemed that honestly nothing was going on, so they wouldn't be interrupted as much. At Blue Ridge, Kristin had often sat in Dafydd's office just to sit, and they didn't talk because it was so busy. Once again her phone buzzed, and obligated to answer, she did. This time there wasn't even a chance to say anything, but it was funny. Dr. Lovall, did you just say Amor broke his stable latch, and tore his winter blanket? That is exactly what I said! That bloody horse is causing havoc in a quarantine barn, and it's just driving the staff nuts. Of course they think it's hilarious, but he poses a hazard. came the reply from the other end. The phone wasn't on speaker, but the vet's word's were clearly audible. Right Mr. Lovall. Amor is a highly complex male horse. Deal with it. I'm in the middle of something, she said before hanging up the phone, and switching it off.
Now where were we? she said, looking into Dafydd's eyes. She still found traces of Jax in Dafydd, and it had scared her at first. Their eyes had the same colouring, and some features of there face were the same, but she had gotten used to it, and now here she was, in love, smitten like a teenager.

- - - - - - - - - - - -His brow creased as she spoke. "You have no idea how much I needed to be out of this office. I think i'm driving the secretary's insane." he chuckled softly. In fact, he'd had two books and a stapler thrown at him already today. Thankfully the stapler had missed his head. Not by much though. He watched her brow raise, and nodded his head as if to confirm her inner musings. He knew what she was thinking, he'd thought exactly the same thing when he arrived. He smiled when she kissed him again, and then laughed softly at her question. "There was fighting on my second day, as well as Ieuan drama. I've been meeting the students I have to keep an eye on most of the time." he shook his head in disapproval as he thought back, most of it directed to his nephew. "He has a knack for finding trouble that boy." he muttered, more to himself than anything. Pulled out of his thoughts by her next question, he smirked sheepishly and reluctantly loosened his grip on her. He was about to speak when her phone buzzed, a look of childish annoyance crossing his expression.
The annoyance left his features when he heard the male on the other side of the phone. He laughed, keeping it quiet so that she could still hear the man. He chuckled as the man continued, remembered the horses antics at Blue Ridge. Unlike Kristen, none of Dafydd's horses were accompanying him. Lyric and Heartbreaker had gone onto new homes, the mother and son still together. Macario and Stellan had been harder to leave behind. Both also had new homes, but Dafydd had only loaned them out. If he wanted them, he could have them shipped out to the UK at any time. He was actually debating it, as the stallion and gelding had very special places in his heart. Zoning in again, he heard her hang up and smiled happily. Now that he had her full attention again, he captured her lips with his own after she'd spoken. "There." he murmured before pulling her toward his chair. He sat down in it heavily, and then pulled her into his lap. "Even though it's only been a few days, I missed you way too much." he murmured, holding her close to him. "How was your trip anyway?" he asked, his lips then pressing into her neck. He couldn't keep his hands off her, which would either annoy her or amuse her. He hoped for the latter.

Kristin allowed herself to be pulled along to the chair, settling her lithe body on his lap. So there were a few things on her mind, and one she would have to tell Dafydd sooner rather than later. Later it would tell itself, and that was not how she wanted it. She loved the fact that he had missed her, but she had missed him just as much. She was thankful for the week that he had been gone. It gave her time to think about how she was going to approach this exact moment. So far it had all gone to plan, but afterwards was a fuzzy detail. It could go horribly wrong or wonderfully right. The time had come.
My trip was good. The airline allowed my luggage onto another flight, so I had to wait for that. I'm surprised the dogs didn't end up on the other end of the earth, she answered his question. The moment had dawned. Hon, I have some news. Please just don't talk until I have finished, she said as he kissed her neck. She bit her bottom lip, and started forcing the words out.
Um, I'm, um, she started, but the words would not come. What I'm trying to say is. I'm pregnant. There's really no other way to say it I guess. We going to have a child Dafydd. Our own flesh and blood, she concluded. It felt good to have it off her chest, and she turned slightly to face him. Kristin searched his eyes, trying to gouge his reaction. Now this was something that she could live with, but a small patch of fear chewed at her mind. Didn't she and Jax try enough with the same result each time. The doctor said it could be life threatening the next time she fell pregnant. Kristin banished the thoughts from her mind, and gave Dafydd an excited smile.

- - - - - - - - - - - -Dafydd was intent on kissing her neck as she spoke, but pulled away in surprise at her tone. Concern marred his handsome face, but he did what was asked. His whole frame was tense as she tried to get out what she wanted to say, anticipation coursing through his whole form. When she did finish, it didn't sink in at first. He looked at her peculiarly, but then realization dawned on him. His expression was unreadable at first. Could he go through loosing a child again? But, it may not come to that. Slowly, he glanced from her face to her stomach. Still his expression was tense, obviously still trying to wrap his head around it. He looked back up to her face to be greeted with an excited smile. That was all it took. A slow grin spread over his face, but there was disbelief shining in his eyes. "Are you serious?" he asked hoarsely, looking at her questioningly.
He suddenly stood up and pulled her into another hug. His arms wrapped around her to form some sort of protective cage. He knew he was going to be insufferable over the next 9 or so months, he'd been the same when Jayden had been pregnant with Emma. His body froze then. With Emma being a stillborn and he knew that Kristin had miscarried, their baby didn't have much hope. "Kristin, what if it goes wrong?" he asked quietly, refusing to meet her eyes. If he did, he'd loose all control he had over himself. There wasn't much at all left. Instead he watched Icey, who now had Luna lain with him. The large canine could sense the tension from his master, and stood. He walked stiffly over to Dafydd's side, pressing his muzzle into leg. Dafydd carefully removed his arms from around Kristin, not wanting to disturb her too much. His hand automatically found Icey's cranium, and he began to scratch behind his ears. He always found the action soothing for the both of them. Finally meeting Kristin's eyes, aware that there was excitement on his expression but it was currently shadowed by fear and tension. He couldn't loose another child, it would kill him this time.

Kristin watched the range of emotions cross his face. The same had happened the day in the doctor's office a week ago. Panic had set in for a few minutes, but as soon as she realised that she was pregnant, it was pure bliss and excitement. I am dead serious, she answered him. It seemed right in so many ways, that it hurt. Suddenly she was pulled into a hug, and it seemed that she had unleashed the over protective Dafydd. It was going to be a bearable few months, but she did not want to be indulged. Heaven's help this man if he dared to keep her from the horses. She wasn't going to ride, no, but late nights she enjoyed the company of Amor. He was a good stallion to seek comfort from.
Then the same panic had set in in Dafydd, and she looked him in the eyes. Her face was serious, but her eyes were gentle and loving. Nothing is going to go wrong. I can feel it this time. It's all going to go perfectly, and you mustn't worry. She replied to his question, and she knew the words to be true. In a few months from now, they would have a beautiful son or daughter, and this was a moment to remember.
Luna feeling her partner getting up, looked up briefly, cocking her head, before sleeping again. Icey came over, and Kris noticed how scared Dafydd was. She was also, but it wouldn't end up as the times before. Be strong for me, she whispered into his ear, before planting a tender kiss on his lips. Now do you have cupboard space for me, or am I going to have to create some? she joked again, indicating the fact that she just arrived. Kristin laced her fingers through his, and stroked the soft skin with her thumb. You have to be strong for me, she thought, knowing that alone she would not have been able to get through the next few months.

- - - - - - - - - - - -His expression remained uncertain as she spoke, his mind still rushing to think of the worst. He'd been the same since he gave up the drink, sure he had a lot to live for, but now he always seemed to search for the negative and try to fix it before it got too bad. That was why he was always under too much stress, making him ill often. She could obviously tell how worried he was, and he sighed when she spoke again. He knew he had to pull himself together, he was acting a little stupid he had to admit. Smiling when she kissed him again, which brightened when she spoke. He then looked at the ground sheepishly. "I haven't actually unpacked yet." he offered, looking at her with an innocent expression on his handsome face. "But it's only been a week and it took be four months to unpack properly at Blue Ridge." he protested before she could tell him off.
He then realized that he also had something to tell her. It wasn't as exciting as her news, but he knew she'd have to know about Kian arriving at the academy. He was going to be occupying a lot of Dafydd's time in the near future. He also had to make sure that he kept him and Ieuan in check, knowing the pair were going to be a nightmare when they reunited in their friendship. "There is going to be a student arriving here in about a week from my hometown. His mother was a dear friend of mine and she sadly died in the same car crash as Jayden." he no longer had a problem mentioning the car crash, but speaking of his old friend saddened him deeply. Especially when he thought back to the fact that he could have prevented it. Shaking his head slightly he returned to what he'd been saying before his memories invaded.
"Anyway, he's a little.. problematic. If you think Ieuan's bad, you're not going to want to be around Kian for long. It's no secret that he's been in jail numerous times, and he's going to be released again a week from now. Since his father isn't on the scene and nobody else wants anything to do with him, I've offered to keep an eye on him." He then winced a little before he went on to tell her why exactly he'd been locked up. "His last offence was murder, and the time before that rape. He's also been in and out for robberies too." Deep down, he was sure Kian was a good kid. He cursed the male's father for being such a bad influence. "Y'know, I came here hoping for an easier life. Apparently i'm not going to get it. Not yet at least." he chuckled humorlessly. He was already preparing himself for the long nights in his office and the stress of his students problems. Sometimes he wished he didn't always have the need to make everything right in the world, but then he remembered that he'd be very bored without that to do. It had only taken a few hours of nothing to do before he resorted to shouting at his computer. He'd literally go insane if he wasn't doing to job he loved so dearly.

Kristin watched him with interest. Somehow she knew that he was searching for the worst possible outcome in this situation, and it was somehow difficult to imagine any difficulties that may arise from such a joyful happening. Something was wrong though. Not with her, but with Dafydd. Then a sheepish look crossed his face, and Kristin listened to his words. Right, well, unless you want a very unhappy hormonal pregnant woman on your hands, then we are doing it this weekend. I don't care how much work you have, it's got to be done, she replied with a fake sterness. Men were all the same. Always procrastinating until the last possible moment.
So then Dafydd actually decided to speak, and somehow she could have guessed that it was work related. The student however didn't sound to fantastic, but she wasn't one to judge. Where Dafydd could speak freely about Jayden's accident, Kris still struggled about Jax. She had been the one to suggest that he ride the grey gelding, a novice at major shows. She knew that the horse had issues with oxers, especially his back feet. In the end it had just caused a lot of heart ache for many. Okay. He sounds... I don't know what to say actually. she said hesitantly. This mean't that she might be seeing even less of Dafydd than usual, and it was a depressing thought. Of course she would come and sit with him in the evenings, and with no horses to train, she wouldn't be so tired either.
Please just look after yourself. It's going to be a rough couple of months, I know. So you gonna knock off now? she asked with a smile. Luna, had already gotten up and was waiting patiently at the door.
