Bella lounged on one of the couches, the early morning sun streaking it's light slowly through the common room. It was only about seven in the morning, but it was a Saturday, and most students were nursing a slight hangover already. With everything that has been happening recently, Bella had been neglecting her school work, and she had always been a morning person, though now every morning mean't that it was one day less that she had with Kian. She could only be absorbed in her combined science for so long, before she pulled a rather tattered copy of Pride and Prejudice out of her school bag. She knew the novel back to front, but it was one of those things that she would always read the book when she was feeling depressed. This time though, Kian reminded her of Mr. Darcy, not that she was feeling like Elizabeth. At least Mr. Darcy had somewhat returned to Elizabeth, and Bella didn't know if Kian was ever coming back. He had promised her that he would, and she promised that she would wait, but only for so long.
Andrew pushed the sunglasses onto the bridge of his nose. He looked a tad dishevelled. It didn't help that he had spent most of the night before drinking. He couldn't remember the particulars, but it had been a farewell of sorts. He was just lucky enough that his father's driver was the one dropping him off at the College. He had spent most of the drive from Oxford asleep in the back seat. No conversation was to be had, no music was played. It was all Andrew could do to nurse his rather large hangover. Whoever invented tinted windows had been a genius.
Bella paged to the page that she was on. It was the part where Jane had taken ill and was staying at Longbourne. Slowly but surely, she absorbed herself in the world of 19th century Hertfordshire. It was ironic that she should be reading about a world so long gone, and a few hundred years later she's sitting in a College in the same town. She was still dressed in her sleepwear, which consisted of black shorts and a tank top. She also had a hoodie thrown over to keep out the slight chill. Samson snoozed contentedly next to the couch. Bella ran her fingers through her hair. She had dyed it an ash blonde of sorts a day ago, just for the sake of it.
Andrew realised that his early arrival would clash with no one being in an office. It was a Saturday and about eight in the morning. The glare assaulted his senses, and all he wanted to was sleep some more. His first order of business was to surprise his sister. He actually regretted not telling her of his arrival, because the last time he'd surprised her, she had threatened him with certain torture. The hangover was already enough torture. The driver stopped in front of the Dakota halls, and Andrew got out. The few pieces of luggage would be followed by a few boxes later on in the day. Entering the halls, he saw that his sister was already up. Her back was towards him, but he could clearly see that she was reading Pride and Prejudice. Not a good sign. Silently putting down the suitcases, he made his way to the couch. Miss me much? he whispered softly into her ear.
Bella had a semi heart attack when she heard the all to familiar voice in her ear. Bugger Lison. Do you have any idea what I could have done to you? she said loudly, using his second name to address him, as she had since they were young. She recognised the slightly pained look in his eyes, and realised that her brother was once again nursing a hangover, and from what she heard, a slight heartache. It seemed that they were rowing the same boat, except Bella felt that she was failing horribly. Thinking of Kian was bad enough, but it was hardly worth doing anything life. He had consumed her life completely, and she already felt the shreds of her heart being ripped even smaller.
Andrew laughed slightly, regretting it as a throb of pain went through his head. Like the other times, he promised himself that he wouldn't drink again. Like before, he would break it as soon as there was a good party on. Remembering the book, he looked at his sister questioningly. Wish to share? he asked, before noticing something else. And since when have you been blonde? he asked, slightly flabbergasted. If she had gone as far as colouring her hair then it was really bad.
Bella scooted over, allowing Andrew to seat himself next to her. She shifted her position so that her head was in his lap. Her comfort came from having his arms wrapped around her, but it wasn't the same as having Kian with her. So about a month and a half ago I met this guy... she started, relating the whole story. From how she and Kian met to the night that he kissed her. From how Alexi and her fought, and Dafydd's worry. She ended with the fact that he was leaving, but she left out why. That wasn't for her to tell. He's not like any guy that I've ever met Lison, but I can't let him go. It's like our two damaged souls found each other. He's just so... so wonderful. she finished, noticing for the first time the moisture on her cheeks.
Andrew listened with patience, knowing that his sister needed to talk to someone. Alexi was a great guy, and like a brother, but was also prone to irrational behaviour, and being completely over protective. Andrew was also over protective, but had slackened his control, knowing that Bella would rebel. There was a moment of quiet, and he chose his words carefully. Just follow your heart my dear, and you'll be fine in the end, he said softly. His headache was forgotten as they sat there. The sun had risen completely now, and looking at his watch he saw that it was after nine.
