PERSONALITY: Ruth is a fun loving, happy go lucky teenager. She is someone who is always willing to go have fun, no matter how much trouble she gets into, but is also willing to take the consequences thereof. She is a prankster by nature, and will play small, harmless tricks on anyone she knows well enough. The usual targets are usually Ieuan or Kian, but there are teachers as well. Her angelic appearance makes her the last suspect, but there are one or two that know her well enough to know when she is the culprit. As a toddler and preschooler, her behaviour was described as impish, but now it is just Ruthanne.
She may be friendly, but she is also the world's biggest blackmailer. If she wants something, then she usually get's it with a bribe here or there. This is when pushed to extreme lengths, but she has a way of getting her will. Ruth can also be a bitch when she feels like it, but very rarely so when she is with her close friends. Then bitchiness turns to sarcasm and dry jokes. She lightens the mood when there is a lot of tension, and can always bring in the serious tone when it is required. Somewhat of a ring leader, people usually know their position around her as she isn't shy to speak her mind.
A dedicated muso, Ruth plays the guitar and sings in her free time. This is just a hobby of the young female, her dream being that of becoming a forensic scientist. She's smart and speaks the best of three languages fluently, but doesn't flaunt her intelligence. The guys are usually the ones that comes to her for help, and then she ends up doing their work for them. They end up paying for it if Dafydd finds out.
Ruth isn't easily angered, but her flustered ways indicate a brewing storm cloud, and then it's best to stay out of her way. She will express herself quite verbally and loudly before all that emotion is released. Once her pent up emotions are gone, then it's back to normal. She also isn't scared to hit one of her guy friends, mainly because they deserve it if she does do it.
BACKGROUND: Ruthanne was born in Metz, France to a Welsh mother (Nicolette) and French father (Jacques). She is the youngest of three, having two older brothers. Both her parents were teachers, but she stayed in France for the first two years of her life, growing up with her languages split between French, Welsh and English. She was often described as a French mutt because of her mixed nationalities, but her parents just laughed off the label. When she was two, her mother was offered a job in her home town, and after much discussion, she accepted. The whole gang relocated to Pembrokeshire, and was quite happy. Jacques also found a job at the same school, and as luck would have it they made friends. Her father met Dafydd, at the time well into his career, and she grew up around the Rees family. Yeah, Ieuan is like her brother and one can see it from the way they act around each other.
Maybe luck was not with De Rosier family. Various tragedies struck when Ruthie was twelve. Her brother, senior by nearly ten years, passed away in a motorbike accident while touring the French countryside. The family was thrown into grief, mainly because Jean was almost finished with his computer sciences career and was a bright boy. It was also the year that the family moved to Edinburgh to look after Ruthie's aging grandfather. Being uprooted after ten years was hard, and she wasn't sure how she was supposed to handle the move plus the loss of her brother. Good things did come out of the move, but it would take a while before that happened. Her parents noticed that her marks had dropped and that she was homesick beyond belief.
Arrangements were made, and Ruthie moved back to Wales to live with her aunt and uncle who didn't have their own children. Slowly her marks picked up and she met her best friend at her school. For some reason, she and Niall just got along better than anybody else did, but the brother/sister relationship between Ieuan and Ruthie still makes him jealous. Ruthie was quite happy with her life, but now misses her best friends and convinced her parents to enroll her in Park. She joins Dafydd, Kian and Ieuan a bit later than the start of a new term, and brings along Niall into the whole equation.
Horse- riding wise: Ruth has been riding on and off her whole life. She isn't passionate about the whole competition side of it, and so will be a happy hacker for most of the time. She hasn't been riding for a year, after an accident with a runaway horse and her foot getting caught in the stirrup. She landed up in hospital with a broken leg, fractured wrist and a mild concussion.
